Some nice things to say about Obama and Clinton (seriously)

We all heard the rule as a kid--if you don't anything nice to say about someone, don't say anything at all.

The rule in politics seems to be--if you don't have anything bad to say about the other side, don't say anything at all.

I'm in a fit of generosity today, so I want to say a few nice things about Clinton and Obama.

Clinton--plenty smart. Knows her stuff, probably as well as any Republican candidate, maybe Romney matches her.

She is also very determined, and has worked hard to overcome her own personal disinclination to campaign hard. In the same way, I admire Kerry--you can tell that Clinton, and Kerry (unlike W and Bill Clinton), just don't like yakking it up with people, but they both work hard to overcome their personal limitations, and I admire that.

And I kinda wish Fred Thompson (still my #1) would show more of that.

Also, in defense of Clinton--Drudge is full of it. These kind of stories--like the anti-Thompson piece last week--are really hitting below the belt. Clinton is gonna press on.

Obama--genuinely nice guy. Charismatic as all get-out. He may succeed, at least in part, in rallying the American people, getting past the Red-Blue divide.

And I'm really glad he will probably bury Clinton. I don't want to risk a President H. Clinton.

He will be the strongest candidate in the field against us. I think we can beat him, but it will be tough. We must hammer relentlessly on the fact that he's a nice radical. Radical on national-defense, radical on taxes, radical on marriage, radical (radically indifferent) to the lives of the unborn.

And if he were President--one added bonus--the jihadists will HATE him (which will make alot of patriotic Republicans love him). He is arguably an apostate from the jihadistst perspective (given his Muslim dad, and the probability that he may have made the Islamic creed as a kid).

Also, he MAY prove to be an effective war-on-terror leader, if only because he can sideline the reflexively anti-American left. That is, if he isn't one of them.

Alright, now that I got that out of my system, I feel better. Otherwise, I'd have to hold it in all summer and fall long.

My Machiavellian motive--well, I want as many independents as possible to vote in the Democratic primary in NH tomorrow, 'cause I don't like McCain much, and I don't want the race to come down to McCain, Huckabee or Giuliani.

So Clinton, thanks for your tough campaign. Obama, please crush her campaign, and the whole Clinton machine for good. And bring as many NH independents with you tomorrow. I want REPUBLICANS to decide our nominee.

That's the best thing of all.

My own house rule is, if you got nothing nice to say about the national Democrat party and its favored elites, then.....

Dang, WELCOME to my house! Sit down and let's eat dinner!
