From the most recent diaries and a welter of comments, it would seem that many, many of those of us at RedState are re-entering the terrible twos.  

For those of you who are vowing never to work/vote/contribute Republican again: who will you support in 06?  08?  Are you just going to take your toys and never come out and play again?  If so...what on earth were you fighting for in the first place?  Were you fighting for our society as a whole, or were you looking to notch a few SC judges on your belts?  I dunno about you guys, but maybe this whole conservatism thing is bigger than even a SCOTUS nomination.  Maybe it's too big to throw away in a fit of pique because you aren't getting what you want.  And just maybe one of the things that should distinguish us from our opponents is our maturity.  

For a bit of perspective:  imagine what we would be talking about now if JFK redux had won--what kind of judges would he and Edwards have fielded?  These judges may not be ideal--may be far from ideal--but they are by no means the worst case scenario.  Yes, we can be bitterly disappointed that the conservative ideal has not been realized!  But giving up and going home just pushes this nation farther into darkness.

Reagan's name has been invoked several times already this morning.  If you're going to invoke the name, you'd better be willing to invoke the character as well.  And these hissy-fits do not become him.  They do not become us, his inheritors, either.

....that, and the whining is really proving entertaining for our opposition....think about it.
