The Top Ten Reasons to Send Redstate to Iraq [Updated with photos!]

Jeff and I are thrilled with our fundraising progress -- after only three days we've already crossed the $8000 mark! We're both humbled and honored that so many of our community are willing to give to this cause. Of course, we're not quite there yet and I know there are some of you out there who have been hanging back and waiting for a really compelling reason to click the donate button.

We need you to get us across the finish line, so here are ten.

10. I got four monster vaccinations yesterday. Owie. Don't let my pain be in vain.

9. Jeff really misses the sand.

8. The front page will feature a whole series of posts that do not mention the '08 presidential race.

7. The Kos Kids think the trip some sort of sinister conspiracy. Prove them right.

6. Harry Reid thinks Iraq is a failure. Prove him wrong.

5. Find out who can run ten miles faster, Jeff or me (more on this later).

4. We need to put the "hawk" back into "chickenhawk."

3. Speaker Pelosi seems to be confused about who is our friend and who our enemy in the Middle East. Let us show her by example which country she should be trying to "understand."

2. I make Kevlar look good.

And....

1. Because there's so much news out there that The New York Times doesn't see fit to print.

Thanks in advance for your generosity.

That link to Kos was the biggest example of fantastic, non-sequitur thinking I've seen in a while.

And, yet, not one of those commenters suggests going along on this trip to fight the "propaganda". I guess they know exactly how things are going in Iraq without ever leaving the comfort of their "apartment" in their parents' basement!

And that means I have now fused the clones into a Benjamin Franklin through the miracle of Cyberspace and PayPal.

In return I ask for an autographed picture of you in that Kevlar. ;)

Good luck and godspeed and I can't wait to hear your reports.

shoot that paper-hanging son of a b@#%#!!! Oh wait...

Here's 25 bucks, and do not spend it all on wine, women, and song.

Er.......... let me rethink that............. yeah, go ahead.

BE CAREFUL!

Just ponied up. $50 smackers. As some of you know, we disagree a lot. But, the things we agree on are much greater. Thanks for all of the erudition, I have learned much in the past year, and am honered to be part of this effort-this site. Gamecock, have you ever played Rock Barn? I lived in Hickory for a number of years. To those going, be safe. You are in my prayers.

This lowly SGT just donated $100. Drop me a line, if you will be in my neck of the woods, it'd be great to meet you.

I stayed in last night...so what the heck.

Stay safe.

I'd opt for a sage, or light sand color. Black is too hot for this time of year.

They're offering gray, green and beige. Nothing in RED, much to my disappointment.

a pic of me and my Marine buddies in a HUMVEE with a Kuwait City road sign in the background during DESERT STORM. Seems I forgot to tell her I had volunteered to go ashore with a laser targeting team - and she thought I was floating quite safely with the Navy offshore. No email in those days - had some 'splaining to do when I got home.

I'm glad I took the time to write and take photos then - my wife kept everything I sent. It puts things in context now when I explain the history of that conflict to my kids and their friends. Show them the Bedouin tribesmen and Kuwait underground that helped us.

Since it wasn't noted here that Republican members of congress, including Frank Wolf (R-VA), Pennsylvania Republican Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Robert Aderholt (R-AL), also went to Syria two days ago, here is what they had to say about dialogue with this nation:

''We came because we believe there is an opportunity for dialogue,'' the statement said. ''We are following in the lead of Ronald Reagan, who reached out to the Soviets during the Cold War,'' it added.

take such STUPID screen names?

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Israel's acting president defended on Sunday U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's planned visit to Syria, a trip the White House described as a bad idea.

Pelosi, speaking at a dinner hosted by Acting President Dalia Itzik, said she would raise with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad the issue of three captive Israeli soldiers, two held by Lebanon's Hezbollah group and one by Palestinian militants.

from your cite:

"Your expected visit to Damascus has naturally touched off a political debate in your country, and of course, here," Itzik said in televised remarks.
"I believe in your worthy intentions. Perhaps a step, seen as unpopular at this stage ... will clarify to the Syrian people and leadership they must abandon the axis of evil (and) stop supporting terrorism and giving shelter to (terrorist) headquarters," said Itzik, a member of Prime Minister Ehud Olmert's centrist Kadima party.

I just hope that the Syrians do not laugh at Nancy too hard, or at us.

Your next ends your time here.

Maybe we'll see a NYT editorial about a Redstate/Rovian plot like this bit of paranoid drivel printed today.
