OK…So, We’re a month away from the Republican Convention and here’s my take on where we are!

Gas is over $4.00 a gallon and I’m paying $65 dollars to fill up my Mercury Villager, (It’s a Mini Van. Forget buying a tin can that get’s 40 mpg since I have a wife and 3 kids). I’m reading polls approaching 70 % of the American People that want to drill here and drill now yet the Democrats are standing in the way of drilling in ANWR and on the outer continental shelf for oil. It’s been 30 plus years since a new refinery has been built in this country and the Democrats are standing in the way of building any new ones.

I've never written a post criticizing John McCain for not meeting with Billy Graham Ministries but I've criticized him in many thread posts for seemingly stiff arming Billy Graham and those who hold him in high esteem. Billy Graham and his son Franklin are pretty much universally respected throughout the Christian Community as well as in leadership and religious circles of all kinds. He's been the unofficial pastor to presidents meeting and ministering every single president since Harry Truman. Graham is one of those rare public figures that refuse to endorse political figures and his personal political persuasion is impossible to determine.

So today was Daddy Day with my boys and I decided we were going to have a wonderful time at the movies with the most important people in my life aside from my wife and my Lord. I thought watching a movie the boys have begged me for months to go see would be an absolute joy. This is only the second movie we've ever gone to at the theater, so I've usually had the benefit of having heard from those who have seen the movies before I go, or rent them and can steer away from the more objectionable ones. “But hey”, I thought, This is a G-rated Movie, created by Pixar and distributed by Disney. I know to be careful with Disney movies because I've seen propaganda passed off as entertainment by them before, but this is a Pixar movie. After all, they made Toy Story, Monsters Inc, Finding Nemo, Cars, The Incredibles, and so many good clean family movies and I've only found them to slip a left wing dig in on a few occasions so I'm thinking...”Hey...Why worry about it. The Boys want to see it so bad they can taste it. I'll be their hero for the day. It's Pixar and they've got great graphics which I really enjoy because I'm a techno geek at heart and the graphics from the trailers looked incredible beyond belief. So...Why worry.”

Kennedy swung to the Conservatives on the Court in a 5-4 ruling upholding the lower court's ruling overturning the Washington DC gun ban.

This ruling is stunning given the recent usurpation of our rights and the purview of other branches of government!

I was predicting the court would go the other way on this...but I guess taking too much too soon was a fear of the SCOTUS

Bottom line...Gun Rights activists finally win one for the Constitution and DC Residence have a right to own handguns and defend themselves and their property!

OK…I’ve heard much outrage of late about the recent Supreme Court Ruling giving Habeas Corpus rights to terrorists and enemy combatants at Gitmo and rightly so. I’ve been kind of flippant about it because I figured the outrage would die as the next big event came along to distract everyone which would result in the rage about the Supreme Court usurping powers specifically enumerated to the other two branches of government being forgotten. It seems I was right to be so cynical because it looks like everyone has moved on. And so it goes and has gone for decades. Our leadership commits one outrage after another and we the people get outraged and raise hell about it for a while, but nothing ever get’s done to fix the objects of our outrage because our leadership will inevitably do something else outrageous thus constantly refocusing our eye and keeping us from fixing it all.

The Republican Party is at a crossroads. The first path leads to Ronald Reagan’s shining city on a hill, the other to the Democrat’s dark, dingy and socialist city upon a very different hill. The first way has been articulated in a recent speech by Representative Mike Pence at the Annual Silver Elephant Dinner in South Carolina, the other way has been articulated by several Republicans of late including Representative Tom Cole on Fox News Sunday last week, Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels at the Fund for American Studies annual conference in mid April and others pushing the Party leftward.

The Republican Party needs to stop looking at politics as a game and stop being reactionary as opposed to forward looking and goal attaining. Secondly the Republican Party needs to get over the battered wife syndrome and stop crawling in bed with our abuser. We are in a WAR! It’s not a game. We're fighting to preserve a way of life that has proven itself as the greatest on the face of the earth against an ideology that has proven to be despotic and incompetent and a dismal failure for the last 60 years.

Below are excerpts from McCain’s speech given in Columbus OH and my take on what he had to say! His speech portrays what he hopes to look back from the year 2013 and see!

Most of what I picked up is that John McCain has plenty of illusions about cutting spending and returning us to fiscal sanity mixed in with lots of new government regulation and plenty more big government for you Democrat fan’s out there in the commune! This speech was creative and as entertaining as McCain is capable of making it, but most of all, it’s long on promises and short on how he’s going to get us there!

In a study conducted by Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences of Germany, shifting ocean currents will cause the earth to cool for the next decade.

According to this study; as ocean currents shift and move heat around on the oceans surface, average temperatures are expected to fall along the coasts of California and France based on increased flows from the North Atlantic.

But don’t worry all you Global Warming Alarmists, these educated idiots have left you an out. See, the spin is that even though temperatures will fall it doesn’t mean the earth isn’t warming, it’s just not cooling as fast.

Regarding an idea put forth by David Hinz and taken up by myself, gamecock and others, I previously said I would stand down...but having chewed on this for a while, I think we should reconsider standing down.

I agree, that we should take the spotlight of our wrath off of Johny Mac but I believe that were we to stand down now where USC 4, Sec. 8(a) is concerned, we would be saying that we believe everything to be OK with our Party.
