Posted at 3:42pm on Jun. 24, 2008 The Rightroots Can Help McCain
By Ashbrook
Like so many on the Right I have been heavy on criticism and short on action this election season. This week I joined a group of frustrated conservatives and we launched a project to help McCain by making him more palatable to conservatves. We also believe that if successful he will be more attractive to a majority of voters.
McCain's last big opportunity to make a lasting positive change to his campaign will be his selection of a Vice Presidential running mate. There are many fine conservatives who would add to his ticket, but we think Congressman Eric Cantor brings more to the table then any of the others.

Condi Rice's call for Chinese restrained rings hollow. Watch this video and you will get some idea of the violent Chinese repression of the peaceful people of Tibet.

I sent back the U. S. Olympic Committee's solicitation for money with a note that the United States should not be helping these communists increase their standing in the world.
Would love to see McCain and the Dems condemn China.

Posted at 10:03am on Mar. 5, 2008 McCain Left Out Conservatives !!
By Ashbrook
Just read McCain's acceptance speech and in the text he thanks Republicans, Independents, and independent minded Democrats. Not a mention of conservatives. I wonder why.
Was it deliberate? An oversight?
It was a missed opportunity.
McCain's words:

Posted at 9:54pm on Feb. 22, 2008 Mass Sentencing of Chinese Christians
By Ashbrook
In largest mass sentencing of religious leaders in 25 years, 21 prominent Christian leaders were sent off to incarceration by the Communist Chinese.
The 17 male and 4 females were arrested in the December roundup of 270 Christian leaders in Linyi City. The real crime these people have committed in the eyes of the Red Chinese is the success they have had in spreading the gospel in the house church movement. The spread of the word of Jesus is something no Communist system can tolerate.

Under pressure from Palestinians, Hasbro toys the parent of Parker Brothers, dropped Jerusalem's association with Israel in an international contest they are running to name the cities on their new international version of Monopoly. After being called out, Hasbro took away all country affiliations for all cities.
The contest is on until the end of February. After signing up you can vote daily. Before they stopped posting the leaders board today Jerusalem was at #4.

Posted at 9:35pm on Feb. 18, 2008 Kosovo A Mini Muslim State In the Middle of Europe
By Ashbrook
The Bush Administration is trying its hardest to finish an initiative started by the Clinton Administration: Separating Kosovo from Serbia.
Contrary to news reports, Kosovo is not a free and independent state. Nor should you be fooled by tonight's headlines that Europe and the United States are backing this new state. While Bush has recognized it Europe is split on this matter. France, Italy, and the UK will recognize Kosovo the rest of Europe is not so sure or strongly opposed.

By Ashbrook
This morning a man responsible for the Beirut bombing that killed hundreds of U.S. Marines, a terrorist responsible for the hijacking of a U.S. plane that led to the killing of another Navy serviceman, a Hezzbolah leader who conceived of and executed numerous attacks against innocent Jews met his demise in Damascus.
No one is taking credit for this come to justice act. But it is clear that Israel had its hand in this operation.

State Department Outrage
http://www.onejerusalem.org/blog/archives/2008/02/state_departmen_1.asp
The United States State Department, under the direction of Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice, is seriously considering siding with Palestinian terrorists in a case that would overturn court judgments in favor of American families that have suffered deaths caused by Palestinian terrorists.
Yes, you read that right.

Posted at 3:06pm on Feb. 7, 2008 Archbishop Supports Islamic Law in UK
By Ashbrook
The Archbishop of Canterbury used a radio interview to express his warped opinion that the United Kingdom should establish the use of Sharia Law alongside that old British legal system.
Yup you read that right. The Archbishop thinks it will lead to social cohesion for Muslims who feel a cultural conflict with British society. He specifically mentioned how, for example, Muslims embroiled in marital disputes could turn to the Sharia Courts. As the blogger below points out aren't Muslim women most in need of protection from Sharia Law?

By Ashbrook
Dutch economists have concluded a study that states what should be obvious: Obese people and smokers live shorter lives and therefore cost less to treat medically.
The average healthy person lived to 84, smokers lived to 77 years, and the obese people lived to 80.
During the course of their lifetimes the medical cost for healthy people cost $417,000; the cost for the obese $371,000 and for the smokers $326,000.

By Ashbrook
Stanley Kurtz makes a convincing case that the Bush Administration has allowed liberals to conquer our educational system and conservatives have generally remained passive.
Kurtz makes several important points, including his assertion that a generation of liberal indoctrinated students have entered the political/public arena. Kurtz argues that the Bushies made a conscience decision not to commit political capital to fighting these all important battles.

Posted at 10:50am on Feb. 4, 2008 McCain, Big Government, and Beyond
By Ashbrook
Daily Pundit has done a valuable painstaking job of compiling McCain's record and conservative commentary on this record.
It is informative reading this impressive analysis of McCain. It also brings back some old memories like McCain defending John Kerry's war record, his big government plan that makes Hillary's health package seem free-market, and his association with Keating scandal. The number of times he has co-sponsored with Ted Kennedy is astounding.

The other day Tom Sowell made the important point that McCain is a bona fide war hero but that does not excuse his dirty campaign tactics not should it shield him from legitimate criticism.
Sowell pointed out that like McCain, Benedict Arnold was a war hero but when he went over to the other side he became an adversary.
This video makes a powerful case against McCain.

Posted at 12:58pm on Jan. 31, 2008 Is Romney Throwing In The Towel?
By Ashbrook
Romney's spokesman has confirmed that Mitt has not bought any ads in Feb 5 states. Why not?
I thought spending his money on tv is his great advantage and his one shot at getting his conservative message across to the electorate.
Maybe he read Rove's piece in today's WSJ in which he declares that television is not as powerful a weapon in this election cycle.
Maybe he's giving up.
After last night's debate that would be a tragedy. McCain proved on several occasions that he is not a conservative. Therefore, we need Mitt more than ever.
