Posted at 8:52pm on Jun. 1, 2007 Here's an idea, don't donate money to any republican candidate who supports Bush's amnesty plan
By Atticus Finch
Money talks the loudest in Washington. If you really are concerned about immigration, don't just show it at the ballot box. How about cutting off campaign donations to the open borders amnesty politicians ? Personally, I wouldn't give one peso, let alone a US dollar, to McCain's campaign. In fact, I won't donate money to anyone who supports this bill.

Posted at 6:54pm on May 22, 2007 Giuliani provided sanctuary for illegals in New York City
By Atticus Finch
The following words come directly from Mr. Giuliani's mouth. Not only did he oppose the 1996 Welfare reform bill, he opposed it because it cut off funding for illegals. Below are the key parts of the speech. For the full text, follow the link.

Posted at 11:31pm on May 21, 2007 The new and improved "Big 3" republican candidates are .......
By Atticus Finch
As the 2008 campaign heats up, I think we need to start reevaluating which candidates are actually in the top tier. In my opinion, by labor day the top 3 will be....(in no particular order)
Mitt Romney
Fred Thompson
Newt Gingrich
I'm hearing through the grapevine that Fred Thompson will announce in June, and Gingrich will announce by labor day. I also believe that John McCain should get out of the race now and save himself from being humiliated by the voters in Iowa next January. Nor was I ever a firm believer in the viability of the Giuliani campaign for president. While its true that Giuliani has a strong supporter in Rupert Murdoch (and the spin doctors he employs on Fox news), I do not believe that support will be enough to save Giuliani from himself. Liberals don't win republican nominations, and I don't think Giuliani will change that no matter how hard Hannity and the boys try.

Posted at 3:37am on May 21, 2007 2005 meeting between Bush and Vincente Fox....does it hold a key to the future of immigration ?
By Atticus Finch
The immigration blueprint President Bush is following could very well have its roots in a 2005 agreement between the US, Mexico, and Canada named the "Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America" or (SPP).
To get a better understanding of what is being discussed and proposed behind the scenes regarding the SPP and immigration policy, one should read the report published by the Council on Foreign Relations..."Building a North American Community".

Posted at 11:42pm on May 16, 2007 Does the 9/11 commission report support Ron Paul's statements ?
By Atticus Finch
Today Ron Paul did not back down from his debate statements. In fact, he confidently suggested that Giuliani had not read the 9/11 commission report - which was the source of Paul's statements.
As a recap, here is the statement by Paul that caused the Giuliani rebuttal.
Ron Paul -> "They attack us because we've been over there. We've been bombing Iraq for 10 years. We've been in the Middle East [for years]. I think (Ronald) Reagan was right. We don't understand the irrationality of Middle Eastern politics. Right now, we're building an embassy in Iraq that is bigger than the Vatican. We're building 14 permanent bases. What would we say here if China was doing this in our country or in the Gulf of Mexico? We would be objecting. They have already... killed 3,400 of our men and I don't think it was necessary."

By Atticus Finch
Sean Hannity almost choked when he announced the winner of tonights debate.
Mitt Romney won the debate by a small margin over Ron Paul. I guess Romney did better than I thought.

Posted at 9:49pm on May 15, 2007 Fred Thompson wins tonight's debate....again
By Atticus Finch
Once again, the winner of tonight's debate was the candidate who didn't participate...Fred Thompson.
Of those candidates who did show up, there was no clear winner. And the problem with these debates is that there are too many candidates on the stage, some of which have no chance of winning the nomination. Only when the field narrows down to 3 or 4 candidates will the debates have any meaning. Having said that, of those who did participate, here are some of my thoughts.

Posted at 6:06pm on May 14, 2007 Fred Thompson gains significant support among social conservatives..will announce soon
By Atticus Finch
This past weekend, Fred Thompson delivered another speech to an exclusive conservative gathering in Virginia. Apparently the speech was a home run because now the so called "evangelical base" is starting to throw their support to a Thompson candidacy.
The following paragraphs are from today's Washington Times article, with a link to the full story below.
"Several leading Christian conservatives say they will rally to former Sen. Fred Thompson, who they expect to announce "in a matter of weeks" that he will seek the Republican nomination for president next year."

Posted at 8:01pm on May 13, 2007 Does MSNBC pollster Chuck Todd read my posts ?
By Atticus Finch
Last week I got into a discussion with a few of my redstate friends where I suggested the early states such as Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina will decide who the republican nominee is. I went on to say that unless Rudy Giuliani is able to win in a few of those states, his campaign will be finished. I also suggested that Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney will be fighting it out in South Carolina, the winner of which will go on to win the nomination.

Posted at 7:34pm on May 4, 2007 Where does Mitt Romney really stand on the abortion issue ?
By Atticus Finch
Rarely do I agree with Dick Morris, bit today Morris was correct in his analysis of Mitt Romney. Morris stated that Romney's various positions on abortion don't hold up to scrutiny.
In the late 1980's Romney claimed to be pro-life. Then during the 1994 senate campaign, Romney claimed to have a change of heart and switched to the pro-choice position after learning of a young woman's botched abortion. As recently as 2002 Mitt Romney was a strong supporter of a woman's right to choose. Now, as a presidential candidate in the republican primaries, Mitt Romney has changed positions again. Now he claims to be pro-life again...this time the justification for the change being the experience of working on the "cloning" issue as governor.

Posted at 4:34pm on May 1, 2007 John McCain was a war hero, Giuliani got a deferment....
By Atticus Finch
Funny how people view the military records of the various candidates. There is no doubt that John McCain is a war hero who served his country when called upon to do so. McCain has been a loyal patriot on national defense issues throughout his career.
During the same general period that John McCain was being held in a Vietnam prison, Rudy Giuliani got a deferment to avoid going to Vietnam. Looking back at Rudy Giuliani's voting record, one finds that Giuliani voted for George McGovern in 1972.

Posted at 6:28pm on Apr. 20, 2007 Washington Post Poll: 54% would definitely NOT vote for Romney
By Atticus Finch
In the latest ABC/Post poll, things aren't looking too good for Mitt Romney. The following question was asked...
"44. If (NAME) wins the (Democratic/Republican) nomination for president would you definitely vote for (him/her) in the general election for president in 2008, would you consider voting for (him/her) or would you definitely not vote for (him/her)? "
54% stated they would definitely NOT vote for Mitt Romney. Romney seems to be even more polarizing than Hillary Clinton. Perhaps his mormon faith is causing more problems for his campaign than first anticipated.
