AtFrantic.com - Matt Y...Ha Ha... It is To Laugh

I can't remember if that was from Shakspeare or Bugs Bunny but either way it applies to Matt Yglesias's post on the Atlantic.com. Matt claims that John McCain called his wife a "C word" and a "trollop" according to an unverified and barely sourced (Okay...He Used the Liberal Site...The Raw Story" and their story isn't sourced as to the allegations) report at The Atlantic.com
Now I can't recall the last time anyone currently alive used the term trollop. But I think I may use the same dated, colloquial terms that Mattie does.
We all use these terms in the matter of political discourse.
Such as...
Prevarication -The act of prevaricating, shuffling, or quibbling, to evade the truth or the disclosure of truth; a deviation from the truth and fair dealing.
Canard - An unfounded or false, deliberately misleading story.
Ruse - A crafty stratagem; a subterfuge
Obfuscate To make so confused or opaque as to be difficult to perceive or understand: “A great effort was made . . . to obscure or obfuscate the truth”,
Et tu Mattie?
Matt...Just a hint. If you are dedicated to either making a name for yourself in journalism or derailing the McCain Campaign...Me thinks thou must do better than that.
QED

I agree with your point that the sourcing for this "story" was thin.
So, too (upon reflection) does Matt Y. He has issued a retraction.
