We interrupt your regularly scheduled Redstate afternoon for this breaking news story!
America is asking: Who is the Batman? What does he stand for?
* Unflinching pursuit of the enemy.
* Deliverer of violent righteous justice.
* Believes in capital punishment for rape and for wearing underwear outside your pants.
* Absolutely willing to scare, beat, and torture the vile to save the lives of the innocent.
* Hates hippies, bad folk music, and corruption.
* Believes in revitalizing the inner city through capitalism and two-fisted justice.
* Wants to be left the hell alone to worship when, what, and how Batman chooses.
* Believes in protecting innocent human life from conception until he or the state puts it to death.
* If you come into his house, he wants to use any weapon he pleases against you, including ones he invented, permits be damned.
* Zionist.
* Clearly opposed to the death tax.
* Richer than God, and no, he’s not ashamed of it.

In 2008, the choice is yours. The choice is clear.
Can Batman defeat the Clinton machine?
I don't see it. He simply doesn't have enough political allies. In fact, he has NO allies now that I think about it, except for one elderly butler, and I don't think that counts.

And he'll get a few key endorsements, presumably.
If he wanted to buy up all the airtime from now til November in New York, Texas, Florida, California, etc., he could do it.
Michael Bloomberg?

It was always unclear just how much money Wayne had.
Which reminds me... unless Batman runs as Bruce Wayne, presumably, all of his wealth would be meaningless since a donor can only give $2,300 per election cycle, right?
MMm.... the presidency, or secret identity to keep fighting crime in Gotham...

I know they killed him off which I thought was a shame, then there's always Bucky Barnes
Might have to go with Ultimate Cap. 616 Captain America has been more of a conservative/moderate Democrat than a Republican. Fine thing if you want another 8 years of W, but I'm ready for something else.
(I confess a certain fondness for Optimus Prime, despite the same problems.)
Well, the Batman stories along with most other stories have become quite liberal with a lot of backing for environmental causes and such. Even Captain America moved left in recent years.
However, I think Batman could move right in a campaign. We're able to accept some past liberal stands from Mitt Romney to get elected in Massachusetts and DC Comics is to the left of Massachusetts.
By the way, this is as good a thread as any to mention my new Zine covering episodic fiction which features a new hero world (less liberal, less PC) where Earth's greatest hero has actually battled Al Qaeda. The first issue is available at Lulu as a free download. I hope you'll take the free stuff, get hooked, and then I'll be able to sell the next issue. Yes, my marketing plan is quite similar to that used by drug dealers. What's your point?
I rather think he's too violent for their tastes...
But maybe the repressed homosexuality angle would win him votes among the liberal crowd?

There is no evidence of homosexual behavior on the part of Batman. All you Superman (or... wait... Marvel?) supporters get all upset when a role model who is a real moral agent shows up rather than a superhero who just does what he is told.
Oh! Here's someone who makes his own decisions! Here's someone who takes the weight of the world on his shoulders! Here's someone working hard to make the world a better place on his terms! I BET HE'S GAY!!!!
Go back to your not-exactly human mutants and your illegal alien role models and wonder why the country is going to heck in a handbasket.
It's because of smears like that one.
I'm disgusted.
Man is free at the moment he wishes to be. --Voltaire
Batman has no known policy position on homosexual or other-sexual issues, though he has spoken out strongly for making violation of the age of consent an even more egregious crime.
He does admit to having shagged his fair share of dames in the past, including over a dozen relationships over the past 50 years (he started early) and many that ended badly (he'd very much like to forget the Vesper Fairchild affair), but he has no progeny that he knows of...
(Warning about that last bit: even now, rival campaigns may be investigating Talia Al Ghul...)

I'm going to have to change my sig.
