Posted at 8:16am on Jul. 3, 2008 Fifteen FARC Hostages Freed

By BigGator5

Did FARC let them go? Was there a gun battle that killed many? Did the Colombian government give into the terrorist's demands?

I am happy to say that none of the above took place. In fact Juan Manuel Santos, Colombia's Defence Minister has hail the rescue as "an unprecedented operation. It will go down in history for its audaciousness and effectiveness."

The Colombian military tricked FARC into handing over the hostages:

By BigGator5

HOW I LEARNED TO STOP WORRYING AND GOT ALONG WITH MY POLITICAL BORTHERS AND SISTERS

The Republican Party is indeed at a crossroads. With Republicans siding with Democrats on an out-of-control farm bill (do I really need to link you the story?), it makes even me wonder if they still believe in fiscal conservatism. However instead of blaming corrupt leadership, conservatives blames all their problems on moderates...

And moderates are not helping.

Posted at 2:45pm on Jun. 3, 2008 The General Election Question: Obama or McCain???

By BigGator5

AP: Obama Clinches Democratic Nomination

Obama clinches Democratic nomination (after of course, taking four delegates not rightfully his) and so it's crunch time, boys and girls.

The question for all of you is as follows:

I thought I would switch gears here in this thread. Instead of talking about policies or people, I thought we can talk on something we might all agree on:

Repealing the 17th Amendment

Something didn't sit right with me about Obama's resent comments.

Obama used Thursday's fundraiser at the Westin Diplomat near Fort Lauderdale, to attack Limbaugh and CNN's Dobbs for their militant stand on immigration policy charging that "a certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There’s a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year.”

Wait, what? I didn't realize that hate crimes against Hispanics have double. So, I have long given up hope for Obama and so I quickly forgot about the whole thing.

Or I wanted to forget. But what Obama had said still ate at the back of my mind. What kind of immigration violence could he be talking about?

A quick search turn up some surprising results...

Iraqi Troops Seize Control Of Baghdad's Sadr City

Iraqis Troops Taking The Lead (AP)

This will be yet another story the MSM will most likely miss.

Again while we watch the unfolding drama on both KY and OR Democratic Primary (which is still the best Democratic Primary EVER), another font on the War on Terror was slowly being won.

I speak of course, of Iraqi Troops taking control of Sadr City.

Ok, I can't stay away. I truly meant to leave until at least 3.0 went live. However with a brief email exchange with Erick and a failed attempt at making my own Slatecard (bloody site won't let me stay logged on long enough to add anyone to my Slatecard), I truly can't stay away. I never been able to stay away from a site until I am banned and that is what will take to get rid of me.

I think with the current firestorm over Obama's wanting to pander to Iran and Obama's environmental plan, a McCain Presidency isn't looking all that bad after all. If you agree, please donate to McCain. The man can use all the money he can get to counter every underhanded tactic the Democrats can throw at the poor man.

Open Letter To RedState Directors:

I join RedState shortly after joining the Straight Talk Express and deciding to donate my newly earn money to John McCain's campaign. I wanted to go somewhere, where I could cheer on McCain and complain about Democrats with my follow Republicans. I always seem to join communities that are slanted to the left and I thought this year I join a Pro-McCain group where I can finally feel at home. I mean, how much more Republican can a site be, calling itself RedState?

By BigGator5

Good grief, not again...

Barack Obama is at a press conference taking cues from the Daily KOS and is currently attacking McCain over his comments about Hamas. It's like he didn't learn his lesson about twisting of McCain's "100-year war" words.

Posted at 2:27am on May 16, 2008 The "Hyper-Partisan" Type

By BigGator5

[In responce to this article.]

I was shocked that Tim Schieferecke said McCain accused Republicans of being "hyper-partisan". So I had to look for myself:

For too long, now, Washington has been consumed by a hyper-partisanship that treats every serious challenge facing us as an opportunity to trade insults; disparage each other's motives; and fight about the next election. For all the problems we face, if you ask Americans what frustrates them most about Washington, they will tell you they don't think we're capable of serving the public interest before our personal and partisan ambitions; that we fight for ourselves and not for them. Americans are sick of it, and they have every right to be. They are sick of the politics of selfishness, stalemate and delay. They despair when every election -- no matter who wins -- always seems to produce four more years of unkept promises and a government that is just a battleground for the next election. Their patience is at an end for politicians who value ambition over principle, and for partisanship that is less a contest of ide as than an uncivil brawl over the spoils of power. They want to change not only the policies and institutions that have failed the American people, but the political culture that produced them. They want to move this country forward and stake our claim on this century as we did in the last. And they want their government to care more about them than preserving the privileges of the powerful.
