So It Begins... Democrats To Impeach Bush

Done yelling at the screen? Good, let's move on.

It looks like another broken Democratic campaign promise...

WASHINGTON - Rep. Dennis Kucinich, a former Democratic presidential contender, said Monday he wants the House to consider a resolution to impeach President Bush.

[snip]

Kucinich, D-Ohio, read his proposed impeachment language in a floor speech. He contended Bush deceived the nation and violated his oath of office in leading the country into the Iraq war.

Look people, you cannot impeach a sitting president just because they are unpopular. You cannot rule by poll, it doesn't work. Canada has that kind of system and they can theoretically have a general election every year!

We all know Nancy Pelosi has said impeachment was "off the table" even before Democrats took control of both houses of congress and she made sure to kill the impeachment of Dick Cheney. However that was last year and now general elections are in full swing. On top of all that, if you will notice who was sitting there overseeing Dennis Kucinich "speech" (or character assassination, take your pick) is none other than Nancy Pelosi!

This is an outrage!! If Nancy Pelosi wanted too, she could take this to the Senate and have both Obama & McCain go on voting record on this resolution! McCain could be painted into a coner where he will be critize of being Bush's 3rd term, if he votes against impeachment of Bush!

Please tell me were I'm going wrong here!

[I know I said my last entry would be my last here and I would post only new content on 3.0 Beta, but this could not be lost to a beta wipe. Sorry.]

John McCain for 2008!

All those Blue Dog Dems that were elected in 2006 will be between a rock and a hard place when the vote comes up; my guess is Pelosi will see to it that it will never be voted on.

Congress should be careful of that. After all, if they want to impeach President Bush with a 23% approval rating, what can we do to Congress with an 11% approval rating?

right below you on the recent blogs list. He says, lend them all the rope you've got. They'll do with it what we "hope" for.

I think me and redscan posted about this subject at about the same time.

However with appoligies to redscan, I have to strongly disagree with him. If Democrats were to call our bluff, this could make it to the Senate and McCain would be painted into a politcal corner of voting for impeachment.

McCain votes against and looks good for it. People separated the wheat from the chaff in previous political hit jobs, and they'll do it here. In fact, McCain can say some "obligatory" things criticizing the President (think Lieberman) and look good for it. Phrased carefully, such statements can be both accurate (Bush has, unfortunately, made some mistakes) and support-generating. I kind of think such a move puts McCain in the catbird's seat. Obama will be forced to vote for impeachment and look like he's pandering to liberal hatred.

Well, that's my two cents. I appreciate your sentiments here. I also doubt redscan will see your post... he's a bit "out there."

I don't know.

Nancy Pelosi has yet to move on this and so we'll just wait to see what she is going to do.

I doubt Pelosi will take it on. Too calculating, not risk-taking.

and is the biggest moron since Shirley McClain. Impeaching the President has become gauche after Bob Barr's three ring circus and the Starr Report.

Kucinich is a petty, spiteful man who is impeaching GWB for something he lacks the guts to do. He's impeaching GWB for attempting to make serious decisions. He will be laughed off the planet. This is as stupid as the time he claimed an endorsement from Grandfather Twilight back in 2004.

At a rate of 6,000 earmarks per spending bill, Speaker Pelosi is selling America's future to the special intrest groups.

Maybe you're right. No more Dune for me before going to bed.
