At Least We Are Not In South Africa

Something didn't sit right with me about Obama's resent comments.

Obama used Thursday's fundraiser at the Westin Diplomat near Fort Lauderdale, to attack Limbaugh and CNN's Dobbs for their militant stand on immigration policy charging that "a certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There’s a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year.”

Wait, what? I didn't realize that hate crimes against Hispanics have double. So, I have long given up hope for Obama and so I quickly forgot about the whole thing.

Or I wanted to forget. But what Obama had said still ate at the back of my mind. What kind of immigration violence could he be talking about?

A quick search turn up some surprising results...

South Africans Are Pissed Off!

Apparently, South Africans are up in arms over, of all things, illegal immigrants. The ironic justice of it all. I mean, here is a group of people to fight against apartheid, only to turn to such senseless violence.

"What is happening now in South Africa at a time when we are trying to unite the continent is really... anti-climax." Said African Union chairman Jakaya Kikwete. I would classify that as the understatement of the year!

But you would think there was a good reason for the violence. Not so:

The violence cases are directed against black foreigners, mostly from Zimbabwe but also from Mozambique and Malawi, on the pretext that these foreigners commit violent crime and take jobs meant for South Africans.

Explanations for the violence have ranged from hatred of foreigners to vague allegations of a third force, but the most commonly accepted theory is fury by the very poor over a lack of service delivery.

This makes me wonder if Obama have the US and South Africa mixed up. He does have family in Africa and so it's not a complete leap in logic. Maybe he should be running for the South African President where they might buy into his left-leaning populist bu-

...Oh pardon me, I shouldn't be passing our problems onto other people.

Obama's attack was reprehensible, but that doesn't justify racist retaliation. I really try to avoid such accusations, but I cannot see any basis on which you could plausibly connect Obama with South Africa other than that he's black and South Africa is a black-majority nation. His family doesn't come from South Africa, so that's a non-sequitur except to someone who thinks all black Africans look alike.

I don't know if this will get you banned, but you're really up to your neck in quicksand here.

And Rightly So!

Wait, what? I'm sorry, I thought that last part was dripping with sarcasm.
