So I got paid yesterday. I open up the pay-check and there under the total taxes was this nice little number:

$165.72

'Good grief!' I think to myself. 'Did I really work over 18 hours for the US Government?'

Don't get me wrong, I get nice pay and I love my job. In the grand scale of things, it really isn't that much and I do love this country. However I begin to think about what $165.72 can get me....

-Could get food, if I don't buy unnecessity stuff and didn't go out to eat.

-I can get a little over 42 gallons of gas (based off current retail gas prices).

-I could pay for my web-site and car isurance for a month or pay-off a little of my student loan.

-A Fujifilm Finepix S700 7.1MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom (dreams a little dream). I know this is priced just a little more than what was taken out of my pay-check, but it's bloody close.

-Season One of Battlestar Galactica on DVD. (ummm... Grace Park...)

So, what could you get for $165.72?

Just a typical, small town, British-American girl...

...or were you referring to dinner at McDonalds?

Seriously, with what I've been reading about the cost of living in London and the dollar/pound (or are they on euros, now?) exchange rate, I really would be surprised that you could get a good dinner for a night out with your husband at that price.

And Rightly So!

1 Pound=$2.04 when we were there last weekend. Ouch!
Honestly, we do better with the euro and Germany isn't quite as ridiculous. I can feed my whole family here in Germany, with two beers/wine (one for me and one for hubby) for about $100.

It can get worse - that will only get you a burger and (maybe) fries in Oslo.

Anyway, c17, I'd suggest that you go to Albania instead - it's less expensive, safer, and they REALLY like Americans there....

for my boat. Trouble is, it needs almost three thirds right now. In Vino Veritas

I could get a DXG-569VS. It's cheap but I could get some things done in 720p while I'm working towards a nicer camera.

Actually, I make 9/hr, but I had some over-time.

You'll really hire me, speciallist? What do you do and where are you located?
