Off to the battle

Fighting libs and left wing pols

Victory is ours.

Am I the last contributor to have written a haiku for this site?!

I have had a blast here at RedState over the past six months, but I'm afraid I must bid you all goodbye.  I am, by trade, a political operative.  And with the first quarter of the election year out of the way, all the planning on paper now has to be implemented on the ground.  I'm going to be  accumulating massive amounts of frequent flier points over the next six months.

It has been a pleasure to be a part of the team and I'll stop by from time to time in RedHot, but otherwise it is time to go.  Regrets?  I have a few.  Most notably I failed to keep my own advice and, in the heat of the moment, wrote unfortunate words about a funeral turned political spectacle that detracted from the issue at hand.  I regret that.  Could I take it back, I would.  I do not regret fighting against those who would surrender this country into the hands of those who would turn our nation's back to the world and bring home all the troops.

While I have been critical of the Republican leadership and the President, I still believe that our country and economy will be better off in the hands of Republican leadership than in the hands of the Democrats and the left.  For those of you considering staying home in November, join me instead in working for conservatives in primaries and Republicans in general elections.  Nancy Pelosi in charge of the House of Representatives would be tantamount to raising a white flag in the War on Terror.

With that, I'm leaving the online fight to rejoin the fight on the pavement.  I've got a lot of clients around the country and I want them to win.  For that to happen, they need my attention.  It has been a blast.  Thank you all for your friendship and support.  You can always email me at blantondc-at-gmail.com.  I'll be seeing you around.

All the best,

Blanton

Posted at 9:58pm on Oct. 25, 2005 Mr. President, Issue Blanket Pardons

By Blanton

I hope I am the first on record calling on the President to do this, but if not, so be it.

Let me attempt to be the first to say that should any person be indicted by Patrick Fitzgerald and that indictment not be directly on the charge of outing Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent, the President should immediately offer a blanket pardon to the indicted.

Those who may be indicted were doing their job to defend the administration from a CIA at war with the White House and a former ambassador who would sell his soul for an extra fifteen minutes of fame and a more credible lie.

If President Clinton can pardon Mark Rich after receiving campaign contributions from Rich's ex-wife, this President can pardon White House staffers for doing their job well and zealously defending this administration against a never ending leftwing attack.  If the left was half as commited to waging war against terrorists as it is in its commitment to waging war against the White House, we would not be here in the first place.
