On the LA Times Hit piece attacking Fred Thompson: "I hate to say I told you so, but......."

Don't you hate it when people say, "I told you so?" Well, I told you so! Lane posted just a couple of hours ago a piece done by Jim Geraghty in which he catches the LA Times editing out a portion of their hit piece on Fred Thompson. Just to remind you, in the original piece, they quoted Judith DeSarno, of the pro-abortion group claiming to have hired Fred to lobby for them, as saying that Fred once acted out a "cowboy death scene" from one of his movies for her in a Washington D.C. restaurant! Geraghty now has found that the LA Times at the same URL for the story has edited out that part of the story!
I had not noticed that it had been edited out. But in the first post I made on this subject, I mentioned that very supposed "cowboy scene" as one of the reasons the whole hit piece could not be true. I quote from my own post dated July 6 - a full three days ago (I've never done that before!):
4. A very strange statement is made in the article that does not ring true. The woman who supposedly hired Thompson is quoted as follows: At one of the meals, she recalled, Thompson re-enacted a cowboy death scene from one of his movies. If you go to IMDB, a movie database, you can look up every movie and TV show Fred Thompson has been in. If you look at the entries for all movies and TV shows prior to 1993, and actually his entire career, you see no entries for a western -- none at all! So, when did Fred make this "cowboy movie" that he supposedly re-enacted the death scene from in the middle of a Washington D. C. restaurant? Is it just me or does that sound really odd?
Now that the LA Times has edited that out, the rest of the attack is automatically suspect. In that same July 6 post, I said:
"We'll see how this unfolds in the days ahead. But I believe it will unravel like the CBS National Guard hitpiece in 2004."
Now, I know this sounds like I'm patting myself on the back (I guess I am a little - or a lot!), but more important than any of that is what this episode tells us:
1. The attacks on Fred are going to continue to be vicious and without conscience. These liberals think they have a right to do whatever it takes, true or false, ethical or unethical, to take down Fred Thompson. To them, he is the enemy. They have no moral center to keep them from doing whatever slimy thing comes into their minds.
2. Our roll as bloggers is to pour over these hit pieces and hold these people accountable. Bloggers literally saved the election in 2004 for the GOP by noticing the discrepancies of fact in those ridiculous National Guard "typed" memos. The anchor for CBS News for 25 years was brought down by those bloggers uncovering the truth.
So don't be afraid to blog as this campaign wears on. If something you read or hear does not "smell" right, let your thoughts be heard. It really might be something no one has noticed yet. And it just might make a world of difference.

But I can act out a "cowboy death scene" and I've never been in a Western either.
I'm more interested in how the current controversy plays out. I hope that it's not true that Thompson worked for a law firm that did some lobbying work for a pro-choice group. Still, his record as a Senator makes him a staunch pro-life man, regardless of what the firm did that once employed him.
