Today the Louisiana House of Representatives approved a bill that will more than double their salaries to $37,500 with an additional $6,000 for expenses. Unbelievably they wanted even more. The bill that first passed in the Senate tripled the salary to about $70,000 for regular members and $100,000 for legislative leaders. But with growing citizen outrage the pay raise was reduced to over double what they make now. Now the House and Senate get to negotiate on how much the Louisiana taxpayer gets screwed.
