By Born Ready
I found this on Fact Check and was really impressed with McCain's Straight Talk. Or at lest the Straight Face he kept while talking last night.
John McCain took issue with a questioner's statement that he favors "mandatory caps" on greenhouse gas emissions.
"No, I'm in favor of cap-and-trade," McCain said.
"And all we are saying is, 'Look, if you can reduce your greenhouse gas emissions, you earn a credit. If somebody else is going to increase theirs, you can sell it to them.' And, meanwhile, we have a gradual reduction in greenhouse gas emissions."

Reuters just reported:

I like what I see. Particularly the no tax on savings for homes under $200,000.00. I'm interested in hearing the thoughts of Red Staters on this package.

Posted at 12:39am on Jan. 9, 2008 Endorsing Fred Thompson
By Born Ready
Regarding anyone dropping out and endorsing Fred, especially Mitt...
Isn't a strong personal work ethic typical of a true conservative?
Mitt has worked harder, longer, has made huge personal financial sacrifices, and has fought on issues. He has won once and came second twice. To date he has earned, against insane odds, earned the highest delegate count. What possible argument can you make to support the suggestion that he should drop out and support arguably the lazist contender in the race? Let Fred earn something, anything, before offering him wellfare!

Congatulations to Mike Huckabee. He won with 34% of the vote. 60% were Evangelical voters and 50% of those voted for Huckabee. Thus 30 out of 34 percent of his vote came from Evangelicals, or in otherwords, just under 90% of his support is Evangelical. Can this win him the nomination? no. Can it prevent Mitt Romney from winning? maybe. Normal Evangelical turnout is between 35 and 40%. Under normal conditions Romney would have defeated Huckabee.

Posted at 4:23am on Jan. 4, 2008 Huckabee's distorted victory
By Born Ready
First off, my congratulations to Mike Huckabee on his victory in Iowa. I am a Romney supporter and would have loved a Romney win but it just didn't happen. I would like to offer some analysis on the results for what it's worth.
Huckabee wins with 34% of the vote
60% of voters identified themselves as Evangelical.
Huckabee won 48% of the Evangelical vote.
60% * 48% = 30%
30 of 34 percentage points came from Evangelical voters.
