Pakistan Mosque Leader Arrested Disguised in Burqa
ISLAMABAD (Thomson Financial) - The leader of a radical mosque under siege in the Pakistani capital was arrested Wednesday while trying to flee disguised in a burqa, two senior officials told AFP.
Security forces seized Abdul Aziz as he left the Red Mosque in Islamabad amid a crowd of women wearing similar attire, a day after bloody clashes outside the building left 16 people dead.
"We caught Abdul Aziz when he was trying to escape the mosque clad in a burqa. He did not offer any resistance,' said a top security official involved in the capture."
So the lesson here if anyone's planning on being a jihadi leader is to (1) send impressionable young men to kill themselves (and others) for jihad, and (2) when your own life is on the line, cross-dress!

Yeah, we're winning them over. First "progressive" Western values, then democracy. It's the proverbial camel's nose under the tent -- just substitute "tent" with "burqa" and substitute "camel's nose" with...well, you know.
Maybe the mad mullah figured his vigilante strategy was becoming unviable, and it was time to try getting elected to office, copying a Pakistani transvestite who got elected as a city councilor.
More seriously, it's long overdue for the Pakistani government to forcibly take down those maniacs, though I suppose better late than never. They've been defying government authority for months now - issuing fatwas against Pakistani soldiers attacking pro-Taliban militants, using vigilante violence or threats of violence against those they accuse of promoting prostitution or pornography, and attacking police who try to rein them in. This guy Abdul Aziz has taken the Hypocritical Coward trophy from Spider-hole Surrender-monkey Saddam (a.k.a. Hands-up Hussein), previously known as the brave leader in the "mother of all battles".
Hey, it looks like hypocritical cowardice and boastful bluffs run in the family. In today's news:
Aziz's younger brother, Abdul Rashid Ghazi, is in charge at the mosque now. He said in the past that his followers will fight to the death defending the mosque. But after the assault on Thursday, Ghazi indicated in televised interviews that he was willing to stand down if he and his students were given safe passage out of the mosque.
