"Look at what happened in the last two years since Senator Obama visited and declared the war lost," the GOP presidential nominee-in-waiting told The Associated Press in an interview, noting that the Illinois senator's last trip to Iraq came before the military buildup that is credited with curbing violence.
"He really has no experience or knowledge or judgment about the issue of Iraq and he has wanted to surrender for a long time," the Arizona senator added. "If there was any other issue before the American people, and you hadn't had anything to do with it in a couple of years, I think the American people would judge that very harshly."

This morning on the “Today” Show, Barack Obama claimied he never leveled the dishonest attack that John McCain supports a 100-year war in Iraq:
MEREDITH VIEIRA: “Senator, both you and Senator Clinton have said Senator McCain favors 100 more years of war in Iraq. On Sunday in The New York Times, Frank Rich wrote, ‘really, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton should be ashamed of themselves for libeling John McCain.’ That in fact he never said he wanted a 100 more years of war, he just felt American troops should be a long-term presence, the way they are in Japan and South Korea. So are you willing to admit that you've distorted his statements?”SEN. OBAMA: “No. That's not accurate, Meredith. We can pull up the quotes on Youtube. What John McCain was saying was, that he was happy to have a potential long-term occupation in Iraq. Like Obama said, “we can pull up the quotes on Youtube.” Well, YES WE CAN. Those YouTube quotes, in Obama's own words, show Obama’s dishonest smear against McCain and that Obama lied on the Today Show:

Update by Neil Stevens: If I may chime in, I submit that this may be related to a growing Islamic split between the bulk of the Arab world and the Persian Axis of Iran and its clients (Syria, Hamas, Hezbollah, and other terrorists).
Muslim troops from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), an Arab country, have been operating in Afghanistan as part of the United States-led coalition for five years.
Their role is mainly humanitarian, but the Emirati troops have been involved in full-scale military operations -- taking part in dangerous missions alongside US troops and, on occasion, fighting their way out of Taleban ambushes.

Kagan's sobering analysis concludes we can't reduce American combat forces in Iraq below 15 brigades this year:
By the best estimates now available, 15 brigades is the absolute minimum force required to accomplish the mission that has brought us success in 2007. Any further reductions -- even by a single brigade -- may make that mission impossible.
Secretary of Defense Robert Gates' recent hope that the U.S. could cut its combat forces in Iraq from 20 to 10 brigades this year now appears overly optimistic.

Watching the Fox New Hampshire Republican debate was a family affair at our house. The consensus among the four of us was Huckabee lost as much as Romney won.
Personally, I thought it was all Romney. He took control at the start and maintained it throughout the entire debate. Romney destroyed Huckabee when Huckabee did a Hillary imitation and refused to give a straight answer on his tax record. In the tax exchange, Romney had the best line of the night:
You know, Mike you make up facts faster than you talk and that's saying something, so let's slow it down and let's get the facts correct.
Huckabee's continuing obfuscation put him in a defensive posture, from which he never recovered.
