Conservatives should reject these "conservatives"

The Spartan Spectator is a blog run by Kyle Bristow, a young fella who likes having his picture taken with various politicos. Charles Johnson rightly criticized the Young Americans for Freedom for inviting Nick Griffin to speak on campus at Michigan State University. Griffin is a bigot and Holocaust denier. According to YAF Watch, the MC of the event is affiliated with Stormfront, a white power group. The SS responded to Charles Johnson by calling his blog "pro-Muslim, left-wing, politically correct, and basically a front for neoconservative foreign policy."

Yesterday, SS praised a radio talk show host for extolling White Heritage Month. Also, yesterday, SS linked to a phony story about MEChA claiming responsibility for starting the wildfires in southern California. How do we know it's a phony story? Part of the URL is cnnheadlienews.com. Not surprisingly, the SS blog supports Ron Paul for president.

I'd done some reading about YAF about two years ago but little since then. I'm dismayed to see that along with supporting Ron Paul's candidacy they've apparently begun to dabble in bringing skinheads, white supremacists and holocaust deniers to speak on behalf of their organization.

Republicans and Conservatives on college campuses need our continued advice, assistance and support -- but as in all things, prudence and vigilance are absolutely crucial.

Thanks, Charles.

Reason.com had a link the fake cnnheadlienews.com story saying the fire was started by separatist Mexicans. My first reaction is that is was made by some liberal troll who just wants it catch on (via email forwards) so they can "prove" that conservatives are racist and will believe anything. Bascily the same thing I thought when Randi Rhodes was "suggesting" that blackwater started the fires.

Evil prevails only when good men do nothing.

How much Maalox do you go through listening to a full episode of The Randi Rhodes Show? I've tried to make it through an entire show, but she makes almost as much sense to me as Harry Reid blaming George Bush for the I-35 bridge collapse. Now, on to something constructive.

Why does it seem the people that spend the most time pointing out the rampant racism in America are liberals? I grew up in a VERY racist part of the country and the same people that wore white sheets on Saturday night voted democrat in November. So, WTF? Is it some "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain" maneuver or have they just gotten used to the idea that nobody is going to question their motives?

Gun control means never having to say "I missed you".

"Each activity and each need of the individual will thereby be regulated by the party as the representative of the general good. There will be no license, no free space, in which the individual belongs to himself. This is Socialism—not such trifles as the private possession of the means of production. Of what importance is that if I range men firmly within a discipline they cannot escape? Let them then own land or factories as much as they please. The decisive factor is that the State, through the party, is supreme over them, regardless whether they are owners or workers. All that, you see, is unessential. Our Socialism goes far deeper …

"[T]he people about us are unaware of what is really happening to them. They gaze fascinated at one or two familiar superficialities, such as possessions and income and rank and other outworn conceptions. As long as these are kept intact, they are quite satisfied. But in the meantime they have entered a new relation; a powerful social force has caught them up. They themselves are changed. What are ownership and income to that? Why need we trouble to socialize banks and factories? We socialize human beings."

Not surprisingly, people often refer to the author of this little piece as "Right Wing". Should we paint the right with this brush?
