Piyush "Bobby" Jindal for VP?

My last post examined the idea that Sam Brownback would be the best pick for VP. This examines the arguement for Bobby Jindal.

Bobby Jindal is currently the governor of Lousiana, and served before that in the House, and as his state's director for medicare.

Jindal has a record fixing a broke medicare system on a state level, and the choice of him would send a positive sign to states hit by katrina. He is solidly pro-life, and solidly conservative. He would be a significant sign of making amends with the talkers as Rush has suggested him as a possible VP choice.

Jindal was born in America to recently arrived Indians. He converted from Hindu to Catholic while a young adult. He is married with 3 children.

Jindal has the advantage of being a Southern governor and hopefully would help McCain solidify the South early in the election.

let's not promote the man before he has accumulated a resume worthy of President. [SEE: Obama, Barry]

You can't take Jindal away from Louisiana right now, the state desperately needs him. Plus, he's just not ripe enough for VP right now.

I know people like to have fun with VP names, but let's be realistic. It's not going to be Jindal. It's not going to be Pace.

Because he's been a supporter of McCain and would satsify socons, I guess there is some rationale behind Brownback, but hopefully McCain doesn't make that mistake. Brownback was a terrible Presidential candidate and has no executive experience. We don't need or want a two Senator ticket. McCain is a big enough blowhard as it is.

Mr. Jindal's most important job right now is reforming the ethics of Louisiana's government, which he has started to do, if memory serves me right. If he can add that to his record, he will be an excellent candidate for the presidency.

with Wolf Blitzer, I believe, and he was pretty clear that he has zero interest, is far too busy with the problems in Louisiana, and leaving so soon would be almost a betrayal of those who trusted him and voted for him. In other words, it's not happening.

I have my preference, though, and it's Senator John Thune.

...Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't he made a subcommittee chair his first term in the House?

It would be hard for him to run against the beltway crowd as an outsider.... So I wouldn't hold my breadth on him being nominated.

He just doesn't fit with McCain's personality also. Pence (in my opinion) doesn't appear to have the same style, or even a very compatible one, as McCain. Feel free to correct me if my perception is wrong...but I just don't see them as having chemistry.

Pence has a good record and will get on base with the base, so to speak.
