November Surprise! AOL/ABC do their part for the Democrat effort!

In an effort to further damage President Bush and the administration, and incidently damage the military, AOL/ABC have decided that this is the perfect time to unveil a joint undercover effort to prove that the military is lying to new recruits.

Under the headline "Cameras Show Army Recruiters Misleading Students" they layout a clandestine effort to catch military recruiters who lied to recruits in order to get them to enlist.

This thinly disguised "November Surprise" is wonderfully timed, the weekend before the election to elicit the greatest damage to the administration, while allowing little or no time to rebutt the story.

Congratulations AOL/ABC! I have to give you credit for originality. While most of the mainstream media has focused its attention on lying about situation on the ground in Iraq, ignoring the high moral and record levels of reinlistments, AOL/ABC has decided to attack the recruitment efforts!

"Nobody is going over to Iraq anymore?" one student asks a recruiter.

"No, we're bringing people back," he replies.

"We're not at war. War ended a long time ago," another recruiter says.

Last year, the Army suspended recruiting nationwide to retrain recruiters following hundreds of allegations of improprieties.

One Colorado student taped a recruiting session posing as a drug-addicted dropout.

"You mean I'm not going to get in trouble?" the student asked.

The recruiters told him no, and helped him cheat to sign up.

SEE? There is an explanation why the military is meeting enlistment goals nationwide, despite involvment in an unpopular war. They lie! These poor unsuspecting recruits are totally unaware of the situation in Iraq, having never before viewed anything concerning Iraq on their television screen. Despite the MSM constant barrage of bad news from the theater of war, these poor dumb high school kids are being duped into record numbers I might add!

What a bunch of morons we have in our military! Too stupid to hope to get a job anywhere else, in the worst economy in the history of the union, they are falling for the military lies; hook, line and sinker! (End of snark!)

Yet ABC News found one recruiter who even claimed if you didn't like the Army, you could just quit.

"It's called a 'Failure to Adapt' discharge," the recruiter said. "It's an entry-level discharge so it won't affect anything on your record. It'll just be like it never happened."

Yeah, that's what I always heard. If you don't like it in the military, just leave. Nobody will care! Yeah, that's the ticket...just leave!

Thank you AOL/ABC for proving once again which side of the war on terror you are on!

I'm sure it will disgust you as much as it disgusted me!

Blackfive, Smash, Mudville, should all have a field day with this.

They used to be so careful in keeping the mask in place and getting their points across in more subtle ways, but the alternative media coupled with the democrats long stint out of power, has caused them to do some desperate and dumb things. They just can't help themselves. In many ways, its admirable that they be the honest, hateful, amoral, appeasing socialists that they are. and
"The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they're ignorant; it's just that they know so much that isn't so." - Ronald Reagan

That is the view the MSM has taken for the past 40 years. It worked when they decided to turn against the Vietnam War and it has worked ever since as the MSM has led the public around by the nose! (to be polite!)

Th emergence of the alternative media and discordant voices in the public debate just confound the MSM!

How long will they keep this up ?

Every time they do this they lose viewers. It ticks people off and causes them to change channels or not watch. At what point is having a nonexistent rating enough to make them change.

I noticed that Fox was airing obsession tonight and tomorrow. This is certainly electioneering on their part. However its not the wholesale fabrication that the MSM engage in to make their point.

if they manage to gain even a slight majority in one house then they will feel that it was worth any price in veiwership or believability, even though it may be a Pyhrric victory.

If they fail, however, they still won't stop, because, really what else do they have?

1) Does ABC have any evidence that this is command-directed? That the Army is directing its recruiters to lie? Their story leaves that impression.

2) Does ABC News think the typical Army recruit is a dupe? (No, wait, I think we already have the answer to that one.)

3) While NO ONE condones misleading a recruit (as some of these recruiters apparently did), has ABC News considered that, maybe, Army recruiters in the Northeast US have to push harder because many a Northeastern high school teacher/guidance counselor would rather support a recruiter for Mao's army than for Uncle Sam's? Would rather spit on a solider than salute one? (I throw that in as a mitigating, not exculpatory, factor to consider).

4) Does ABC News contend that this is widespread amongst Army recruiters. Or, have they cherry-picked some examples, and are now portraying them as the rule for how recruiters act, instead of the exception?

5) Does ABC News consider Army Recruiting Command to be a dishonorable and/or deceitful organization? (No, again, wait--see question 2). If so, what body of evidence does it have to support this contention, besides Fahrenheit 911 and an assortment of John Kerry speeches.

6) If Army recruiters are deceitful people who dupe the innocent, then why are so many soldiers reenlisting? And, why is the quality of our Armed Forces so good?

7) Do ABC reporters have the guts to go up to an Iraq vet, ask them what they think of the American media, and THEN stand there and listen to their answer? (No, wait--see Question 2)

"Who will stand/On either hand/And guard this bridge with me?" (Macaulay)

is how many recruiters did they talk to to get the results they achieved?

They mention that they sent out ten individuals with hidden cameras. did they talk to ten recruiters? Or, more likely, did they talk to 500 recruiters and then pick and chose the ten that gave them the results they sought!

Its not the quality of the evidence its the seriousness of the charge. (At least when directed at republicans)

I just logged onto AOL and the headline was this! Idaho Professor Criticized Over Bigfoot Study The story begins with this:

Jeffrey Meldrum holds a Ph.D. in anatomical sciences and is a tenured professor of anatomy at Idaho State University. He is also one of the world's foremost authorities on Bigfoot, the mythical smelly ape-man of the Northwest woods. And Meldrum firmly believes the lumbering, shaggy brute exists.

Had I realized that AOL was turning itself into a supermarket tabloid, I would have realized that the recruiting scandal held exactly the same amount of veracity as an Elvis sighting, or photos of the Loch Ness monster.

See The World In HinzSight!

BigFoot and Elvis are the stuff of real newspapers. BushBashing and Military Recruitment Stories are tabloid stuff.

If "pro" is the opposite of "con", what is the opposite of "progress"?

Surely, someone told these dolts making false statements or declarations on enlistment papers is a crime. Who did the advising/was retained for this scheme? I don't buy these kids did this on their own. From the piece, it appears AOL/ABC "hitchhiked" on someone else's work to build the story.

Lawyers always get paid, I say follow the money. That is the real story.
