Barack the disingenuous hypocrite.

The Wife™ watches The View everyday (one of the downsides of DVR is that The View, Oprah and Dr. Phil magically get recorded daily). She knows that I'm into this whole politics thing, so we watched the Barack Obama interview together last night. One thing that stood out in my mind was a few obvious contradictions (I don't have the transcript, these are paraphrases):

Senator Obama was asked what would be the first 3 things he would do upon assuming office next January. First, he said that he would gather all the Joint Chiefs, military commanders and necessary cabinet members and tell them that they would have a new mission - to get out of Iraq as soon as possible. This is nothing new for the Senator, he's been running on a message of surrender the whole time.

Later in the interview (next segment IIRC), Senator Obama was asked about John McCain and about bringing the country together. He said that unlike the current administration, he would seek input from everyone, he would listen to people because he knows that he doesn't know everything and that Democrats don't have a monopoly on being right. After all that, then he would make his decisions.

Hmmm, I thought out loud to my wife, "he wants to listen to everyone because he knows he isn't right all the time, except that he has already said what he will do in Iraq without listening to anyone else. He'll give the order on day one to get out without the input of the Joint Chiefs, military commanders and cabinet officials?" Why the two orders Colonel Jessup Senator Obama? Either you are going to listen to people or you are not. You can't do both.

Later in the show, Elisabeth Hasselbeck asked the Senator about his plan on taxes. First Senator Obama complained about the debt (deficit maybe? but I think he said debt), saying that we are going to have to increase taxes on the wealthiest 2% of Americans to deal with it (he means the highest 2% of wage earners in American because we tax income and not wealth, but I digress).

He then said that he was going to propose a tax cut for people making less than $75,000 per year, but it would be revenue neutral because it would be offset by the higher taxes on those 2%ers. "Wait a minute," I said to my wife, annoying her again with my interruptions, "If it's revenue neutral, how is that going to bring the debt down at all? Doesn't that mean that they won't be taking in any more money than they were before?" She was amazed by my perceptive powers! Either that or she just rolled her eyes.

Senator Obama has a wonderful gift for speaking, he is eloquent and charismatic. You can easily get lost in his words and fail to see them for the emptiness they contain as I found myself doing throughout the interview. Once you delve into the details you find that he is offering nothing new. The same failed policies wrapped up in a prettier package. Sleight of hand to distract you from the big tax hikes that will be coming our way to pay for even half of what he is promising. Saying that he will listen but showing that he has his mind made up.

Beware Barack’s doubletalk!

Wow. Just wow. I knew this guy was an empty suit - but I didn't realize it was this bad.

----

I can unequivocally say I will not be running for national office in four years.

- Barack Obama, 11/04/04

Not only was Senator Obama promising Revenue Neutral Deficit Reduction (RNDR) he was promising Increased Spending Revenue Neutral Deficit Reduction (ISRNDR)!!!

Next up for BHO - cold fusion! Following that - perpetual motion machine!

I'm not sure I could have stomached that much stupid on one show. I'm really not sure how Hasslebeck does it.

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

Whoopie isn't all that liberal in her views, and she's got quite a bit of common sense. Hasselbeck is conservative (and a cutie). Sherri Shepherd is pretty moderate from what I've seen. BabaWawa is just about your middle of the road MSM Democrat. Joy Behar, OTOH is a complete and total moron - and that's being nice.

Dear God I've watched too many of these apparently (though I did have to look up 2 of their names). Off to drink beer and recover a little bit of my manhood.

Being that I watch The View most days now, I will paint a little different picture.

Joy Behar is a wacko leftist. Nothing more, nothing less.
Barbara is a liberal. She is in no way a middle of the road dem.
Whoopie is quite liberal. She is very big on the nanny state and has all kinds of excuses for the bad behavior of Jeremiah! and all blacks. They are still pissed off and they have a right to be. Gag! I do find her less condescending than Joy or Barbara though.
Sherry, Lord help her. She doesn't have much in the intellegence department, but she is funny. Barack Obama could be the anti-christ and she would still love him because he is black.
Elisabeth deserves a special place in heaven for dealing with Joy and Barbara's patronizing behavior. God Bless her, she tries to be the adult in the room. There isn't enough money in the world that would make me desire her job.

It has a ring that Hussein never did and nobody can say its racist. It flows off the tongue, is pleasing to the ear, and has those most rarely seen qualities in politics accuracy and truthfulness.

Its good to see that it won out over the other competitors.
Barack "The Pandering Liar" Obama
Barack "The Empty Suit" Obama
Barack " I will say whatever I think you want to hear" Obama

And lets not forget
Barack " A vote for me absolves you of all white guilt" Obama.

No need to mention that other name. It's Barack Hypocrite Obama. Naah. They probably won't approve of that, either.

Action above and beyond the call!

And you're a realist, too--

"She was amazed by my perceptive powers! Either that or she just rolled her eyes."

Now THAT is funny. I'm still smiling.

BHO is, at the end of the day, an empty suit and Chicago political hack and racist.
The more he talks the more obvious it becomes.

just how much income taxes can you cut for households making less than $40K. Not much, I assume. So that leaves 40K - 75K. And why 75K? I like Fred Thompson's theory: let's not divide the pie differently, but instead make the pie bigger!

Also, if his plan is revenue neutral, and would reduce the debt, did anyone ask which spending programs he is going to cut? These libs think that they will get this huge windfall from pulling out of Iraq. Much of the GWOT funding goes to the US economy in form of payments to reservists and soldiers, and contracts for the DOD and intelligence agencies and their contractors. To hear the libs talk, all the money is simply buried in a hole and set ablaze in the Iraqi desert. The GWOT makes more sense for the economy than the "economic stimulus payments" do.

I like a definition of "working familes" that I saw somewhere, maybe even here: 'Working men and women are those that are working, and thus not on welfare."

All good points, Greg. I'd add something, but you already said "Budweiser."

"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.“--Jeff Cooper. From Bill Coffey's collection of military quotations

"Budweiser?" Not sure what you meant? (Of course, your moniker makes me think of "Falstaff".

Well, long, long ago, when the world was young and the advertising profession was perfecting the use of meaningless hyperbole, there was a Budweiser commercial jingle that ended

"When you say Budweiser, you've said it all."

I just felt that you'd said it all.

"An unarmed man can only flee from evil, and evil is not overcome by fleeing from it.“--Jeff Cooper. From Bill Coffey's collection of military quotations

It came to me as I ran the song thru my head as I fell asleep.
Thanks again for the compliment.

I'm so annoyed right now...

I think I did a pretty darn good job with my paraphrasing!
