Posted at 12:05am on Jan. 29, 2008 Healthcare - Individual Mandates

By David Ribeirao

Time and time again the subject of individual mandates in healthcare reform has come up as we've discussed healthcare reform proposals. Many of you know that I have worked in hospital and health system administration throughout my career and continue to do so. My opinion, from years of experience is that individual mandates are not a bad thing and are essential to any healthcare reform that protects private payors.

Romney depicts loose cannon McCain - updated
Less than 48 hours after proclaiming he would never get personal with another Republican, Mitt Romney’s latest campaign missive focuses on the temper of Arizona Sen. John McCain.

The Romney camp frames the memo as a top-10 list of McCain’s “attacks” on Republicans. It could also be called “10 instances over the last eight years when McCain got angry or lost his cool.”

The story is now on Drudge, here is the link http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8UELGG00&show_article=1

I'm posting this for it's relevance to the political debate, as this may make Mormonism a hot topic again. I'm pleading for respect in this thread and that you don't bring up anti-Mormon type comments both out of respect and because that's not what this blog is about.

or should...

"Romney lands movement conservative figure"
http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0108/Romney_lands_movement_...

"Mitt Romney has picked up the support of Morton Blackwell, a veteran conservative warrior who previously backed Fred Thompson.

Blackwell is the GOP's national committeeman from Virginia, but he's better known to conservatives as chief of the Leadership Institute, a training center for ambitious young Republicans.

Posted at 12:45pm on Jan. 18, 2008 Rush Limbaugh's Support for Romney

By David Ribeirao

http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/01/18/limbaughs_praise_f...

The link above is to an article from the Boston Globe (which I personally detest) about Rush Limbaugh's support for Romney.

On this site I have frequently posted my opinion that from what I've heard of Rush, his support and praise of Romney has been equal to that of Fred Thompson. That struck a chord with many pro-Thompson folks who blasted me repeatedly that my education was clearly sub par if I could have somehow come to that conclusion.

Posted at 7:51pm on Jan. 17, 2008 Mike Huckabee - The flippiest of the floppers

By David Ribeirao

Really, what will it finally take for the flip-flopper meme to stick to Huckabee? Here is just a small list off the top of my head of well-known Huckabee flip-flops:

- Federal smoking ban
- School vouchers
- Birthright citizenship
- Amnesty for illegals
- Cuba Embargo
- Negative ads
- Federal ban on abortion
- Being fat (it's okay, I'm only kidding)

Go ahead, he's earned it.

Flip-Flop Huck...Flippity-Flop Mike...Flippity-Floppity Huckabee?

Posted at 11:42pm on Jan. 8, 2008 Do I need therapy?

By David Ribeirao

Yes, I know I am setting myself up with this blog title but here is my question.

How can I be happy that Hillary won tonight?

How can I possibly cheer for Hillary Clinton?

I was so happy Barry beat her the other night?

Why am I so interested in the Democratic race?

I hate liberals...feel conflicted...need medication...razor blades...politics of hope...barf...Hillary crying...laughi

Posted at 11:35pm on Jan. 8, 2008 Bad night for Conservatives

By David Ribeirao

Mitt Romney loses
Fred Thompson gets 1%

There are many giddy posts tonight about Mitt Romney coming in second tonight. Many of these comments are from well-known FredHeads but should FredHeads really be happy about this?

Many on this site don't like Mitt and I understand why - they don't believe him but whether you believe him or not, his policies are conservative and the only other GOP candidate who is similarly conservative is Fred. The true conservative platform lost tonight and lost bad.

Posted at 1:37am on Jan. 2, 2008 Huckabee on Hannity and Colmes

By David Ribeirao

I just finished watching Huckabee's interview on the H&C replay. This interview was one of the most pathetic things I've seen and if I were a Huckabee supporter I would be very, very, worried.

Mike was asked about his non-airing of the attack ad on Romney, which he initially did an okay job of deflecting but he insisted that he was not going to go negative. He then proceeded to attack Romney at least 5 times that I counted. He called Mitt dishonest. He stood by the words of his attack ad, when asked by Colmes if he did. He repeated many of the claims of the attack ad and so on.

Follow the link below for Bob Novak's article on a privately commissioned phone bank poll showing Romney ahead in Iowa with 30% of the vote, Huckabee at 25% and Fred Thompson at only 1%.

I'm guessing this probably won't shoot to the top of recommended blogs.

Iowa Predictions From the FNS Roundtable
Yesterday, 7:23 PM • By Michael Goldfarb

On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace asked the Roundtable for their predictions for the Iowa caucuses:

WALLACE: All right. Enough talk. Yepsen ducked it, but I'm not going to let you guys duck it, except for Brit Hume, who will do what he chooses to do.

So starting with you, Juan, top three finishers, Republican, in Iowa.

Posted at 5:31pm on Dec. 21, 2007 Fred Thompson Lacks Leadership

By David Ribeirao

I've found myself posting a lot about Fred today, so I wanted to put my thoughts out there in a blog.

Why is Fred Thompson being accused of being lazy? Is he really lazy? How can such a great, principled, man be so easily branded with the lazy meme.

The truth is, Fred is not necesarily lazy but he lacks leadership. People who follow someone, do so, because they know what that person stands for and can tell what's important to them. I recently had one of the foremost management consultants in the country explain this to me, albeit much more eloquently. Leadership is difficult to define (but you know it when you see it) but we can break down the qualities that proven leaders share, which is what our consultant did. If we were to look at Fred's leadership profile he would show outliers on his communication style, dedication, play vs work, etc - basically all of the things which are demonstrated in what is called here "style."

I've been waiting for this. This is going to hurt him, she attacks his so called strongest point - Christianity. Imagine when she takes on his conservative credentials.
