Posted at 12:23am on Feb. 1, 2008 Our Likely Nominee Almost Left the Republican Party to Hand Control of the Senate to the Democrats Back in 2001
By dblagent007
Senator McCain was very close to leaving the Republican party back in 2001, or so says this article.

Some of the money quotes:
"Democrats had contacted Jeffords and then-Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R-R.I.) in the early months of 2001 about switching parties, but in McCain’s case, they said, it was McCain’s top strategist who came to them."

K-Lo over at the corner is reporting the following:
A number of Senate sources explain how Senator Brownback appears to have voted today. "when the roll was first called, and he calmly called out 'aye,' from his seat. Near the end, however, he walked down into the well and as they called out his name again he voted 'no.'"

Posted at 5:38pm on May 8, 2007 Abortion may be least of Rudy's problems
By dblagent007
Rudy needs to answer some tough questions about this. http://www.villagevoice.com/news/0719,barrett,76566,2.html/1
If they go after Rudy like they did Kerik, then losing the presidential nomination is the least of Rudy's worries.

(2007-04-18) — Democrat presidential hopeful John Edwards today unveiled the centerpiece of his 2008 White House bid, a budget-neutral proposal to provide universal hair care to every American.
The former North Carolina senator and 2004 vice presidential candidate is the acknowledged “hair policy wonk” among Democrat candidates.

Flashback: Rudy on Slavery (from the corner at NRO)
Giuliani presidential campaign 1860:
CNN (Confederate News Network) interview:
GIULIANI: I'm in the same position I was 12 years ago when I ran for mayor, which is personally opposed to slavery, hate it, would advise that you hire someone rather than have a slave.
But it's your choice. It's an individual right. You get to make that choice. I don't think society should be putting you in jail for it.

Posted at 2:59pm on Feb. 19, 2007 Rudy and Partial Birth Abortion
By dblagent007
Rudy has recently switched to supporting a ban on partial birth abortion as long as it has a “life of the mother” exception. Rudy implies that his previous opposition was because there was no “life of the mother” exception. Unfortunately for Rudy, no one has ever proposed a ban on partial birth abortion that did not include a life of the mother exception. Maybe Rudy can enlighten us on exactly what legislation he opposed because there was no life of the mother exception. It seems more likely that Rudy has flip-flopped on this issue to make him somewhat more palatable to mainstream conservatives.

Much has been made of Romney's abortion stance in 1994, but his other positions at the time aren't as well known. A flier from his 1994 campaign shows some of his other positions. Take a look.
