An Appeal To Some Conservatives Seeking a League of Shadows Approach to America...

Ducard: "The League of Shadows has been a check against human corruption for thousands of years. We sacked Rome, loaded trade ships with plague rats, burned London to the ground. Every time a civilization reaches the pinnacle of its decadence, we return to restore the balance."
Bruce Wayne: "Gotham is worth saving. Give me more time, there are good people here."
--Ducard educating young Master Bruce Wayne in Batman Begins on the effect the League of Shadows has had in human history, and Batman's (aka Bruce Wayne) response.
Sorry for the superficial quotes to open a plea for common sense and reason, but I am up late (my shift for watching the newborn, as my wife sleeps), watching Batman Begins.
It seems some conservatives would like to add "we stayed home and let (fill in with HRC or Obama) get elected in 2008 at the end of Ducard's lecture. Some may say I am oversimplifying their point, or that I am some RINO who will settle for less, instead of demanding more--when I ask for people not only to vote for McCain, but get in the trenches and fight as we did for W.
But, when I close my eyes and think of what HRC or Obama would do with a Democrat Congress, I (unlike MLK) do not have a dream, I have a nightmare. My nightmare is a world I will be handing to my son that is far worst than how I found it. I have watched tons of speeches by Obama, with the words "Yes We Can" crowd participation segments... and here is what I found during an (fill in with HRC or Obama) administration.
"When we are facing economic uncertainty, we can take money and put it into government for new programs, bloated budgets, and endless bureaucracy. But can we do it?"
--"YES WE CAN!"
"Just when we put two young, humble, and deferential justices to the Supreme Court, who understand the limited role of the Court and the supreme role of the Constitution, we have the opportunity to reinstitute years of mediocrity and tyranny from the nine kings/queens on the Bench that can rule Americans for an entire generation. But can we do it?"
--"YES WE CAN!"
"Now that the violence in Iraq has fallen, and secular parties are coming together to negotiate a true Islamic democracy in the Middle East, we can pull ou troops out of the war zone (days after the inauguration) and let the area descend into a bitter bloodbath of apocalyptic proportions, creating the possibility of WWIII and risking even more American lives...but can we do it?"
--"YES WE CAN!"
"We have not had an attack on American soil in over six years through several domestic policies that have increased our safety and protecting our liberties, but now we can lower those barriers, give identifications and driver's licenses to anyone, and open our borders to anyone, thus ensuring another attack during my administration...but can we do it?"
--"YES WE CAN!"
"Ladies and gentlemen, as the world grows smaller, and other nations grow stronger--economically and militarily, we can appease those who stand for tyranny and the downfall of America's greatness by utilizing our naivitae and arrogance thus ensuring a second cold war with China, Russia, Iran and/or more, but I have to ask...can we do it?"
--"YES WE CAN!"
AND YES THEY WILL.
Republicans do not agree on everything. Conservatives do not agree on everything. Yet, there is a common understanding and agreement in 2008--either Democratic nominee in the White House at this juncture would be a disaster. Now, there are those who choose to support McCain by holding their nose and casting a vote. Then, there are those who simply want to employ the "League of Shadows" strategy of letting Rome burn, putting plague rats on the ship, and burning London to ensure a conservative swelling in the years following.
Finally, there is a small and (at this point) inconsequential group. I belong to this group. This group of people are scared and angry. Not at the (what we have been told by MSM and Conservative Media) weak group of candidates running for the GOP nomination. No, this group is angry and afraid at the proposition of a Democrat controlled House, a Democratic controlled Senate, and a Democratic controlled White House. This anger and fear fuels this small group not only to oppose the other party's nominee, but to volunteer and/or contribute to McCain's candidacy. The future is too important. My son is too important. The country is too important. I do not have to hold my nose or swallow my pride, because my pride lies in this country and the direction it heads in. If the other party's nominee wins, I can yell as much as I want (and be ignored). But, if I volunteer and fight for:
1) limits to government spending
2) limits to government taxation
3) limits to Supreme Court authority
4) prudence in the prosecution of the war on terror
5) prudence in the prosecution of winning the peace in Iraq
6) prudence in the handling of international relations
then I know John McCain will at least implement those things. I may not agree with McCain on everything, but I disagree with the other party's nominee on every issue and their approach to address it.
The United States is worth saving. Give McCain and the GOP more time, there are good people here.

"Vote for the backstabbing MSM suckup -- it's Important!"
