By digitalhap
The gulf between Social Conservatives and Fiscal Conservatives is a fascinating one, and I suspect that many on Redstate, like me, feel torn in having to choose either one of the other in terms of the Republican candidates in the race. I would love to feel strongly that my candidate is both, but if I have to choose, which way do I go?
Yes, I do believe that life begins at conception, and that abortion is murder. I am a Christian, and unashamedly so.

Posted at 10:32pm on Jun. 12, 2007 Republican Presidential Poll -- Aggregate Numbers
By digitalhap
Real Clear Politics tracks the Republican and Democratic polling numers in an interesting aggregate fashion. View it here.
Take a look at the Fred Thompson line in red. On the date he announced that he was considering a run, his numbers came in at approximately 10%. Now, there has been quite a bit of discussion regarding who Thompson's potential entry hurts, but look at the graph lines of the other candidates for a visual understanding. At the point Thompson's numbers came in, both Giuliani and McCain took hits of approximately five points apiece. Romney dipped very little, but his numbers weren't all that high--in fact, less than Thompson's to begin with.
