Now is the time- Save our Constitution: Open letter to Bush, Roberts, Boehner, McConnell

IF YOU DO NOT STAND UP FOR OUR CONSTITUTION NOW, WILL YOU EVER? WILL ANYONE EVER?

Open Letter to the following:
President George W Bush
Chief Justice John Roberts
House Minority Leader John Boehner
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell

This morning the United States Supreme Court ruled 5-4 to directly defy Article III, Section 2 of the United States Constitution in deciding to extend habeas corpus rights to foreign nationals held at Gitmo - in defiance of the Legislative Branch acting within its specific Constitutional authority to deny SCOTUS jurisdiction over the matter.

Others have gone over the details and made the case. I just want to talk to you about YOUR respective jobs.

If EVER there was a time for elected officials to stand up and be counted, that time is now. The Supreme Court has a long and illustrious history of usurping power already, and now it seems they have officially placed themselves as the supreme rulers of the land, with the Constitution now serving as their office toilet paper.

So, what can you do?

President Bush You can go before the nation and declare publicly that this order by the Supreme Court will not stand, and say why. THEN you can proceed to instruct the military and all areas under your jurisdiction that it SHALL be so.

Chief Justice Roberts Before I start, I must say: LOVE your work, my friend. Now, you have no actual power in the matter, I suspect, since the majority voted against you. But you and the other 3 dissenters can refuse to have any business conducted in all Supreme Court matters.

My friend, it is THAT important. This is a Constitutional crisis, so I ask that you do EVERY possible thing to overthrow what has been done, even to the point of outright, and (dare I say it) uncivil conflict. Call a national press conference. I bet it's never been done by a SC justice, but does the law forbid it? Make your case before the nation.

Leaders McConnell and Boehner Articles of Impeachment for 5 Supreme Court Justices. Sure, it will not result in ACTUAL impeachment, but as the Lord God lives, if there was ever a time for justices to be impeached, this is it. Both of you have the power to effectively shut down all business in your respective Houses until this matter is heard.

Make it so.

* * * * * * * *

Gentlemen, this crisis is REALLY not about habeas corpus for people not entitled to it. The matter is of minor significance in the large scheme of things.

But the Constitution is THE THING. It is the nation's taproot, our anchor, pick your favorite metaphor - but there is NOTHING more important to the jobs that America chose you for, than the defense of the United States Constitution.

It is the part of your oath of office that is the most binding. If you will not stand up now, will ANYTHING EVER be held sacred?

Thank you for listening. Regards,

Rings true just like gc's turn of the Andrew Jackson "let him enforce it" quote.

If you know a better way, don't hesitate.

*Not sure I like the idea of the SC Chief Judge going before the camera's - sets bad precedent. But, if Roberts had a speech he felt needed to be read to the nation, I'm sure he could find someone to deliver it.

Does anyone know where McCain stands on this?

As against it. These are enemy non-combatants and not POWs, etc.

Erik

have been called Senators Kyl, Mccain and congressman Flake.
On the up side each had a real person on the phones one of the few times i have talked to a human at Mccains office.

Email sent to the President.

Mr. Fuller

Its time for this showdown before the SCOTUS get anymore off track than it already is.

What a legacy for the President and chance for McConnell and Boehner to show some cajones (as well as other conservatives).

My understanding was the SCOTUS was the made weakest the branches on purpose ?

If Americans want a truly non-activist court that does not legislate, they should support a president that understands the limited role of government. The best true conservative for the job is Bob Barr, Libertarian Candidate and former Republican congressman from Georgia.

Unfair. Unbalanced. Unmedicated. -- IMAO

This is exactly what the framers of the Constitution were trying to avoid when they set the Government into 3 branches.
Their main concern was limiting the power of all 3. Now, SCOTUS is trying to userp even more power than they already have, we need to draw the line and enforce the Constitution. And when the lawyers complain they should be the first ones lined against the wall and shot at dawn, fair treatment for traitors of the nation.
