According to today's Lowell Sun Jim Ogonowski has raised $170,000 in his quest for the 5th Congressional District. While this number may fall short of Democratic totals, Finegold suggests he raised another $400k for instance, all of the Democratic contenders have started this race with an organization and fundraising lists. To do this from scratch in 3 months is pretty amazing. I'm pumped about this number.
Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Jim Ogonowski posted solid second-quarter fundraising numbers, according to his campaign, in a strong first showing for the Dracut Republican in a heavily Democratic state.
His campaign announced yesterday that Ogonowski has raised about $170,000 in the second quarter from 450 donors, giving him a significant leg up on his Republican rival Thomas Tierney, of Framingham.
Ogonowski did not report any fundraising activity after the first quarter of the year, not starting to raise money in earnest until after the first reporting deadline.
Of note is that Tom Tierney has not raised ANY money and put a whopping $2000 of his own money into this race. hopefully this war chest will scare him off and make him reconsider his Quixotic quest.
If you have not donated to Ogonowski yet. Do so! Let's keep the ball rolling.
Keep up the good work and keep us informed!

MA-05 went 57-41 for Kerry in 04. I don't know much about Massachusetts except that it's a cesspool of left-wing toilet bugs.
But 57-41 in New England says to me that there's hope, if a strong candidate can get out there. MA-05 lies outside the Boston Vortex of Stupid. If LTC O wipes out the scant GOP competition in the primary, it might make for some good press (yeah right) and momentum.
With the Dems self-destructing in DC, he'll get some help purely from the national "congress sucks" factor. EaBo, it might help if you noted in your story (and I think you can edit it) that this is a special election Oct 16 of this year, with primaries on Sept 4. Thereby reminding that this candidacy has some immediacy. I thought when I read it that this was a standard "looking ahead to 08" story.
Just my 2-cents.
It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?
