16 Year Old Girl Lynched. All Cell Phone Videoed.

This story has been pulled from JPost.com as misleading content. The murder did occur, however, not in Gaza. I apologize for the confusion in this regard.

Following story is from Jerusalem Post. Funny how all the oh-so-politically correct folks on several continents think that the oh-so-downtrodden Palestinians are to be pitied.

One would think that folks who abhor lynchings, who abhor violence against women, would speak up on behalf of this poor child.

They won't, of course.

Caught on tape: How a 16-year-old girl was lynched in Gaza
By KHALED ABU TOAMEH

"After more than 20 years in the business, and just when you think you've seen it all, there's always something that shocks you more than ever.

A photo from a cellphone video of the 16-year-old victim of the Gaza lynching.

"This time it's the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl in the Gaza Strip. Her crime: "dishonoring" her family. Of course, there is no way to verify the allegations against her and other females who have fallen victim to "honor killings."

"The gruesome murder occurred a few weeks ago, when the girl - who looks much younger than her age - was dragged into the street and handed to an mob of angry young men.

"Eyewitnesses told The Jerusalem Post that many of those who participated in the lynch were Hamas members and relatives of the girl.

"A five-minute video obtained by the Post over the weekend reveals the savagery and mercilessness of the killers.

The story goes on to describe multiple stabbings, the lack of anyone stepping up to protest or protect the girl, the one simple gesture to modesty; a man straightening the dying girl's skirt so that her undergarments might not be visible to the crowds.

Someone should ask Nancy (Prayer Shawl) Pelosi whether she would care to comment.

In the unlikely event she visits Damascus again, she might want to confront Hamas offices there to speak up on behalf of girls like this.

"Honor" means different things to different cultures.

Someone should ask the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women if they have any comment on this and similar crimes against girls.

http://www.un.org/esa/progareas/women.html

I understand that 'honor' has different meanings amongst cultures. But this is beyond wrong, it is evil.

And those who say they speak for women in our world, the first female Speaker, the UN Division for Advancement of Women, I could think of more, should be asked which definition of 'honor' they are assuming in this poor girl's death. And in the death of others like her.

My "Moral Equivalency" comment was said as an anathema! Those who would see Abu Graib and see a moral equivalent are blind to the fact that good and evil exist in this world.

Perhaps what I should have said was "Moral Relativism!"

Re moral equivalency, how about this: cell phone pictures emerge of Abu Ghraib prisoners getting humiliated and the world excoriates the US.

Cell phone pictures emerge of a teenage girl's murder and desacration, and the world says: ?

What's remarkable is that this nation accepted responsibility for the prison events, ended the circumstances and promised it would never happen again.

The girl's murder however, is only typical of what occurs and can be expected to occur in a certain type of society.

I watched it and it is disturbing but many need a wakeup call.

Elliot, if you quote whole news articles on Red State, that leaves RS open to problems, so please just edit this and quote excerpts, instead of leaving the whole article pasted in place.

This is too revealing to let a legal problem hinder it.

I now understand and apologize

Just clip out a key paragraph or two, blockquote it all, and make sure to have a link to the original so people can still read it.

Thank you,

Is it possible to re-do content after it is posted? I thought that I was to keep this in mind for future use.

When you're logged in you should have an 'edit' link up near the title of your story, when viewing it on its own page.

I have always wondered how block quoting works. As long as I have learned the 'Edit' function, perhaps you could help me with this one as well. Thank you.

at the bottom of Neil's post right above this -- he is our "miracle worker"

"Article content not available"

I tried to google it, and got the same result on 2 different computers. No results. I think the google server is having trouble. Something I've never seen before.

An updated link with the editing would be nice.

I did a search for articles on the JPost site by Khaled Abu Toameh, and the most recent article is from 9/23/07.

Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

I finally got google to work but all the links point to jpost. A seach on jpost yields nothing.

The link was a good one when I posted it; the story has utterly vaporized from JPost.com's web site.

I can think of several reasons why they might have spiked it, but am unable at present to understand what happened. In the meanwhile, I will clean up orig posting.

Thank you.

It was pulled for a misleading story.

The jpost author was misled. Yet on the LGF page people are quick to condemn Israel for a "faked" story. The story is appearently true, although it took place in a differant country. I remember it from a few months ago. This doesn't make it any less abhorrent.

I remember the story--the girl was from a Kurdish religious group called Yezidis--not Muslims--who worship Satan in the form of a winged peacock angel. She was killed for dating a Muslim. This set off a round of retaliation killings of Yezidis by Muslims.

Looks like the JPost got set up.

of course it is terrible wherever it is, but someone did get set up. It is sad in this polarized world that the left would push this as proof we are in the wrong, when we would push the original report as proof they are in the wrong. :(

We must be realistic because honor killings happen in Iraq, Palestine, London, and The Netherlands, and many more locales. This is why this War and our aims ARE complicated. This is fact, just the way it is. It almost makes you pine for "normal" enemies.

Molon Labe!

Ditto that. In the words of Leonard Cohen:

"Give me back the Berlin wall
Give me Stalin and St. Paul
I've seen the future, brother:
It is murder."

Too bad the guy trying to stop it didnt have a sub-machine gun. He would have been succesfull in stopping it. Good reason for the 2nd ammendment.
