The Young Republicans should have known better than to pick Glenn Murphy

I'm really torn about mentioning this on the front page of RedState. I do believe that generally we should not air our own house's dirty laundry.
But, time and time again I see known cretins in both parties climbing the party apparatus ladder because too few people were willing to speak up and say what cretins they are.
Now, having been a State CR President, I'm not a huge champion of the CR's and YR's. Too many overzealous people who want to climb the party apparatus ladder without actually doing anything.
So, I'm going to go against my gut instinct to not say anything and just tell you like it is: The YRs should have known better than to pick Glenn Murphy as their National Chairman. Many more than one person told me he was a cretin. And it seems like most of his backers weren't even really fans of his.
I'll give him one thing, he out organized and out strong armed everyone else. Reading the police report of him getting arrested for performing oral sex on another guy while the dude was asleep and also doing other things, certainly explains how he got his strong arm.
I won't bother putting this on the front page. But hopefully it'll come up in a google search of his name one day when he thinks everyone has forgotten about this and he wants to climb the party apparatus ladder again.
i would urge anyone casually involved in the YRF to jump in waist deep. it'll be a great ride and you can learn a lot about getting the young conservative message out effectively with Jessica.
Yeah, after serving as Murphy's Assistant Secretary and then hand picked as his #2 Colon is a real breath of fresh air!
I agree with your take on the CRs and YRs Erik. I don't know much about Murphy, and I'm not sure about putting out a story dropping the oral sex thing with little information and letting it just hang out there. But I can certainly vouch for your opinion on the C/YRs.
I founded both a county level CR group and a campus CR group. The more I saw of both groups "at the grass root level" the more I liked. Hard working activists who did all of the ground volunteer work while older members of the party (not affiliated with the CRs or YRs) sat around and took credit.
But creep up into the state and national level of both groups and you find a hive of opportunists, people who have the prime aim of "How I can I get noticed and cash in my volunteer time so that I can seek office?"
Most communities I have lived in or visited I've enjoyed supporting local CR or YR groups. But get to the state levels or above and things seem to be a cut throat den of common opportunists.

i dont know glenn, but i can personally vouch for Colon; the new chair. she's can take the YR's to the next level, and probably 2 more levels after that.
