Campaign Circus Entertains and Informs

I thought I’d let ya’ll know about a new website out there called “Campaign Circus.” It’s a condensed database of political videos, sorted by categories so you can easily navigate the website.
You can join free and pick daily videos to put on a playlist similar to a media player or itunes. You can also lift the videos to embed into your own blog and link to friends on the site in a fashion similar to social networking like Facebook.
Co-founder Jared Young described his site as the “political version of YouTube.” Having been active over a month now, the site allows the user to bypass much of the junk you have to sift through on YouTube or Live Leak to find what political video you are looking for.
Some of the categories to choose from include humor, candidate, issue or date. They feature things like the latest attack ads from presidential candidates and spoof videos (think “Obama Girl”) to meet whatever entertainment or information you are looking for.
Next up, Young says Campaign Circus is developing a “Pundit Accountability Project” – to keep tabs on all the talking heads. He said this idea came about due to the “bad year” many pundits have had with predictions. Examples includes the New Hampshire debacle with Obama and Clinton as well as McCain’s so-called “dead” campaign this summer. This section of the site should be up and running in the next couple weeks, according to Young.
A section dedicated will be solely to Senate and gubernatorial races. In the works is a video editing feature for bloggers and site managers. Individuals will be able to edit down the clips to the specific time they want to fit the context of their story, post or issue.
Young said they plan to implement advertising eventually and hope the site will “provide the good stuff bloggers are looking for.”
