Posted at 8:38pm on Jul. 4, 2008 Should the Fourth of July be replaced by "World Day"?

By FrankLucia

Should the Fourth of July be banned in America? It is worthy of debate as to whether our nation deserves to celebrate the Fourth of July. That, instead of stuffing our faces with hot dogs and wasting money which could otherwise go to social services on fireworks, we should be atoning for the many, many sins of our nation.

"World Day" could be a new day of atonement, to replace the Fourth of July. On this day we eat tofu (no meats), use no air conditioning, and not use our vehicles. Actually, I could foresee "World Month", in which Americans make formal, widely publicized apologies to the indigenous peoples of our continent, and to all those around the world for our transgressions.

Posted at 4:29am on Jul. 3, 2008 Should the US become a Muslim nation and consent to Sharia law?

By FrankLucia

Should the US become a Muslim nation and consent to Sharia law? Before you dismiss the notion out of hand, read on. It may have more benefits than you realize:

McBush have promoted the idea of a "war on terror", which has cost our nation untold trillions of dollars and lives. Bin Laden has offered an olive branch which would make this "war" unnecessary and irrelevant:

If the U.S. and its allies would accept Islam as the official state religion, and convert en masse to Sharia law, al Qaeda will discontinue any terrorist plots against us. So here is the ultimate question: would it be worth it to take bin Laden up on his compromise?

Posted at 5:03am on Jun. 28, 2008 Is Barack Obama the Anti-Christ, as portrayed in the book of Revelation? [Closed and annotated.]

By FrankLucia

[Let me be blunt, folks: I'm aware that Spot-the-Antichrist has been a very popular topic for the last two thousand years or so. In fact, Senator Obama should be perversely flattered that he's considered noteworthy enough to be included as this year's candidate. But while there are plenty of sites where you can debate who is and who is not the anti-Christ, this is not one of them. - Moe Lane]

Posted at 3:13am on Jun. 13, 2008 George W. Bush: One of America's greatest presidents

By FrankLucia

In a conversation recently, I mentioned as an aside what a great president George Bush has been and my friend was surprised. I was surprised that he was surprised.

I generally don't write blogs about the manifestly obvious, but, yes, the man responsible for keeping Americans safe from another terrorist attack on American soil for nearly seven years now will go down in history as one of America's greatest presidents.

Posted at 11:30am on May 26, 2008 Intriguing (and possible) scenario: 269-269 Electoral College tie

By FrankLucia

A 269-269 Electoral College tie in this year's election is entirely possible. Here's all it takes:

Obama picks up CO, IA, and NM. McCain picks up NH. All other Bush/Kerry states remain the same.

Ergo: 269-269.

Goodness, could you imagine an election being thrown into the House of Representatives? (When was the last time that happened? 1824?) Each state gets ONE vote based on its Congressional delegation's decision, as of the current delegation -- before the new Congress is sworn in. Wow!

Posted at 2:50am on Apr. 13, 2008 The impending McCain landslide -- though not without twists

By FrankLucia

At the risk of going out on a long, thin limb, I am predicting that Sen. John McCain will win this general election in landslide fashion. Chief Justice John Roberts will swear in the Arizona senator as the nation's 44th president in January 2009.

Bank on it. But how?

Well, it won't be without twists and turns. First, expect the general election polls -- which are currently virtually even -- to give Obama a bounce once he finally, painfully, captures the Dem. nomination from Hillary. This artificial bounce, of roughly 8-to-10 points, will last through the Democrat convention in Denver. Shortly after that, this pseudo-lead will pop like a balloon.

Posted at 8:46am on Feb. 25, 2008 Will the Clintons endorse Obama?

By FrankLucia

Will the Clintons endorse Obama? Will they make convention speeches advocating his election? How enthusiastic will they be?

We all know Bill and Al had something of a falling out in 2000, and Bill offered only tepid support for his VP (which may have cost Algore the election).

Will the same thing happen in '08?

Posted at 9:09am on Feb. 13, 2008 What if Clinton wins popular vote amongst Dem primaries & caucuses, but loses nomination?

By FrankLucia

What if Clinton wins popular vote amongst Dem primaries & caucuses, but loses nomination?

Last I heard, though Urkel has nudged ahead of Hillary in total delegates, she still had more popular votes. The reason is that Urkel keeps winning small, limited-participation caucuses, whereas Hillary wins large states with wider turnout. (And not to mention FL & MI.)

It's no secret that I want to run against Urkel, who'd be easier to beat, rather than HRC.

Posted at 5:23am on Feb. 12, 2008 Offended! They should say 'Happy Holidays' in Feb., as they do in December!!

By FrankLucia

Are you offended by all the references to Valentine's Day? Shouldn't it instead be, "Happy Holidays?" After all, Chinese New Year, Valentine's Day, President's Day, and Ash Wednesday occur this time of year.

In December we said "Happy Holidays", in order not to offend anyone. Why then insult people who may not celebrate one of February's holidays?

Posted at 11:56pm on Feb. 11, 2008 Seven reasons Obama will be easier to beat than Hillary

By FrankLucia

I'd rather run against Obama than Hillary. Frankly -- assuming conservatives do line up around him -- McCain would win hands down against BHO. Here are 7 reasons I want Obama to win the Dem nomination:

1) First, Hispanics are rallying around HRC. Many of them will not vote for an African American. (Sorry, I said it.) Additionally, they like McCain because of immigration. This puts five wobbly red states more firmly in our corner: NM, Az, CO, NV, and all-important FL. (Especially if the Mac camp can circulate that Che Guevera video.)

Posted at 4:10am on Feb. 9, 2008 McCain's VPOTUS short list

By FrankLucia

McCain's VPOTUS short list, as I've read, generally in order:

Pawlenty
Crist
Rice
Palin
Huckabee
Giuliani
Snowe
Graham
Hutchison
Lieberman
Kasich
Rell
Thune
Watts
Blackburn
Brownback
Barbour

I'd like to see Thune, myself. What does everyone else think? Will McCain try to "appease" the conservative wing of the party, or go with a maverick like himself? Given McCain's age, this may be the most important VPOTUS selection ever.

Posted at 2:22am on Jan. 15, 2008 If McCain is the GOP nominee, what do RedStaters do in the general?

By FrankLucia

Let's think realistically several months from now: If John McCain is the GOP nominee, what do RedStaters do in the general?

Do we:

a) vote third party?

b) abstain?

c) hold our nose, vote for him, but not volunteer & contribute?

d) volunteer & contribute actively?

For the record, my choices are, in order: Fred, Mitt, Rudy, McCain, and (long break) Huck.

This is a serious question.

Posted at 4:59am on Jan. 4, 2008 Huckabee supporters: What's your electoral roadmap in November?

By FrankLucia

Huckabee supporters: What's your electoral roadmap in November? This is a darn serious question, as we don't have much room for error.

I say, Huck wins NO Kerry states, and loses the following Bush states:

Ohio
Az
CO
NV (Mormons mad at him)
NM
Ia

Also, FL and Va will be extremely close, though Huck might pull them off.

McCain and Giuliani could win a general election. I think either would've kept Ohio and maybe added some Kerry states (MN, WI, CT, NH, Pa). Thompson and Romney, maybe. But not Huck -- no way.

David Limbaugh, Rush's brother, has endorsed Fred Thompson. Better late than never. I guess this is as close as we'll get to Rush actually coming out to endorse him:
