Finally, Someone heeds GC's call for Reaganesque Attacks on the Dems

Since the first Bushlied emanated for the Party of appeasement I have been begging Republicans to call a spade a spade. I have been praying that someone in the DC-GOP would decide to love truth and their country more than they fear the MSM and love their jobs. I have been perplexed that even from a practical standpoint, they hadn't heeded the lessons of the Reagan landslide victory playbook and its persistent description of the Democrats as weak on defense.

Mitt Romney delivered in spades yesterday (AP story):

In a speech to a retreat of conservative congressional Republicans, Romney lashed out at Clinton for telling a pro-Israel dinner that a dialogue with countries hostile to Israel - including Iran and Syria - is needed to promote peace in the Middle East.

"At this point, We don't need a listening tour about Iran," Romney told the Republican Study Committee. "Someone who wants to engage Iran displays a troubling timidity toward a terrible threat of a nuclear Iran."

I have been calling for a sharp edged sword to match the level of disgrace of the Democratic Party's reckless and irresponsible behavior on the war since the first Bushlied chirp soon after our troops liberated Iraq.

Why should Americans assume a great deal of difference between the parties on national security when Democrats' unpatriotic speech that emboldens our enemies is shrugged off by our DC-GOP who treat Jackass behavior as bad, but within the bounds of acceptable discourse and policy?

Mitt gets it?

I hope its contagious.

I don't want to turn everything into political maneuvering, but this is a good move for Romney. Hotline rightly points out that Romney is stuck between Rudy/McCain to the left and Brownback/Huckabee to the right with everyone focused on Romney. By going after Clinton he can rise above party infighting and avoid a pi**ing contest with other Republicans. Also, if and when she fires back it will lend credibility to his campaign.

"I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected" --McCain

My purpose here is not about Romney. Its about the survival of America. Liberals are threat #1 and have been since 1972. Reagan matched the rhetoric with the threat, won landslides and the Cold War. Its time that the GOP woke up from their vacation from history and did the same. Mitt has done it first.

I tend to focus on the actual politics of the '08 race too much (forest for the trees scenario) instead of the right thing to do.

There is nothing better to rally the Republican base than taking Reaganesque shots at Hillary Clinton.

Romney has changed the focus from having Republicans attack him to attacking Democrats.

Hopefully, this opens a bidding war on the GOP side (except for Hagel and Browback). I would love to see all the GOP candidates attacking all the Dem candidates.

What about the new tone.

Shouldn't a president be a uniter not a divider ?

Veritas magna est et praevalet.

picks up the ball.

The issue right now is the conduct of the war. Let Bush man-up and take on Hillary and Hagel and I'll agree we're seeing progress. I'm seeing none right now and Mitt and the rest of the wannabes don't matter. If you really think this is a big deal, just watch over the next week how much media Mitt's comments get and how much attention the D's pay to them. HINT: none.

No leadership gets the second tier (which the "candidates" are right now) ignored.

that much. Heck, I don't hate Bill that much. No, Hillary should only be president of a place where she can't hurt anyone: antartica or saudi arabia

I wonder how the Saudis would react to Hillary Clinton. I would be willing to commit American troops to install that regime just to see what would happen.
