The 1/2 Hour News Hour Debut is TONIGHT @ 10PM est - Potentially Huge Impact

GC, haystack and many others have been bemoaning the underachieving Fox News Channel in terms of being a balance against the MSM's 24/7 partisan for Dems and propaganda for foreign enemies programming.
I suggested a Daily Show like show that made fun of liberals last year.
FNC gives GC a belated Christmas present tonight.
Don't underestimate the potential impact. This could be a Rush moment for TV.
Rush was immediately successful because he affirmed the beliefs of the majority that they never heard on radio and were made to feel guilty by the MSM for thing the things Rush said.
Rush affirmed them.
Tonight, regular Americans will get to hear liberal icons that never get made fun of on TV, made fun of.
This could be huge.
Watch and call liberal friends and tell them to watch. Humor is a powerful tool for persuasion.

still depressingly bad. the only remotely funny bits were the Kim Jong-Il "No Fat Chicks" shirt and the Hillary Chatline.
the Marion Berry joke was funny too, but the delivery wasn't that great (something that was true of most of the show). but what's with nearly half the show being devoted to Ed Begley (sp?)???
Note to Fox,
Less canned laugh track, more live audience who might actually find some of the segments funny. Try a campus Young Republican club, throw a keg-er.
But Girl 13....grrrr

His people will be thrilled,
the last 5 minutes were proportional to the show's title.
I don't see this thing going anywhere, at all.
Come on now that's funny. I enjoyed it personally...gotta love the ACLU.
the ACLU commercials were funny, and the shiite happens t-shirt broke me up...along with the "other white meat" t-shirt
conservatives do not care for fake news. Liberals like fake news because they are in a dream world where they are in the majority. Yes, this show was not good. It is dumb to copy the left. They dream of having somone like Rush and they always fail. This was a mistake by Fox.
Molon Labe!
Perhaps a little more originality is in order. The best bits were the commercials. The ACLU "defending criminals from you since 1920" and the hollywood starlet looking for another humanitarian cause.

Or is it mere supposition ? I would propose putting it to the test, there are some truly enormous hogs out there.

This is the mirror image of Air America. I think all these people need to realize that leftism works better in some vehicles and rightism works better in others.
Air America was a mistake on so many levels. Talk Radio and leftist politics just don't mix. I could go deeper into why I think this is. But it's beside the point here.
Likewise, rightist politics just doesn't go too well in the fiction genre. You don't see too many movies with conservative themes. And while most tend to chalk this up to a dearth of conservatives working in entertainment, I just think it's because the philosophy doesn't lend itself to that vehicle very well. A chicken and egg question of sorts, I guess.
Liberalism, on the other hand, is rooted in the things that make fictional movies work. For instance, many books and films are about human spirit overcoming human nature (self-interest, etc). Well, in the real world, human nature is a pretty strong force -- and not a regrettable one, in my estimation.
But there's some part of us all that fantasizes about a more altruistic world than the one we live in -- and that's why liberalism and fiction go so well together. Fiction gives us the freedom to create a world very different from the one that actually exists -- where the idealistic view of humanity can be cast as plausible and the realistic view as deplorable.
The cardinal rule of screenwriting, I've heard, is that one or more characters have to be fundamentally changed from the beginning of the story to the denouement -- and I don't think the changes are physical in nature.
I like to think that conservatism is better grounded in reality than liberalism is. And, let's face it, reality doesn't make for very good escapism.

The show needs some polish, but it could be really good if done right. I wasn't too thrilled, but I enjoyed listening to a conservative perspective for once.
I heard this was just a pilot and had a low budget, but if they do this right, it could be good.
Wubbies World - The odds of hitting your target go up dramatically when you actually aim for it!
My teenage daughter loved it! So, for the younger kids, there may be a bright spot here.

even know who Marion Berry is? do most AMERICANS, period? much less the cannibal dictator even I'd not have known who was without a minute long exegesis?
it was a mistake to do this on a low budget operation opposite the NBA all-star game and the oscars/emmys/grammys/whatever award show it is next Sunday that I won't be watching, with grade F (maybe D if I'm being generous) material that wasn't even polished up to look nice.
I'd say 3 monkeys, 22 minutes.
Wait, I know...could it be, would he do it now that he's a Fox News talking head?
Yes...Super Dennis Miller to the anchor desk, and maybe heading up the writing staff.
The ACLU and Ed Bagley bits were actually pretty good.

I like Dennis Miller. Though if a smart show like the one he had on MSNBC couldn't make it, I don't know if even he could save this thing.
is the ability to look at everyday circumstances and make a wisecrack. And Lord knows our congress is full of jokes.
It's perfect for Dennis Miller. He is a much better mocker than analyst (though I admit enjoying his analysis, I'm a junkie.)
I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.
And for gods sake get some believable sweetners (Laugh Doctors).

We kinda agree.
Making fun of Libs is so easy, a monkey or Democrat could do it. But I repeat myself.
The Academy: researching the Illiberal Arts
If I had seen this same show, as a sketch on SNL or on TheDailyShow, I would have found it to be an annoying spoof.
It had the feel of a characature of what a Conservative News Show might be like, through the eyes of a Lib.
The Hollywood Wannabe Humanitarian was the only funny bit.
Rush started it off well enough, and gave me some reassurance that it wasn't a nasty spoof. But then Ann had to use that line of "Watch this show or we'll Bomb&Invade your country and convert you to Christianity".
Then the canned laughs and WHAT ABOUT the children's book segment that wouldn't end!?!
Yes, Dennis Miller. Please try to save this thing.
... can do for itself is to hire Scott Ott, IowaHawk and Frank J as writers. That is, if the aim is to skewer the Left and be funny at the same time.
Frank J's stuff easily lends itself to Republican self-mockery. And I do believe what would really make this sort of thing a success is to occasionally present the Left's rather caricatured view of Conservatives (i.e. racists, sexists, homophobes, environmental rapists, etc.) and take it to such absurd lengths (i.e. Frank J's Rummy) that it actually hurts the Left rather than the Right.
On the other hand, Ott and IowaHawk obviously know how to pack a heavy punch and lay it on the Democrats without much stress and still end up telling you something of the true story. Frank J's Howard Dean is hilarious.
All of course depends on whether they can transition from blog funny to TV funny ...

so far this is really not very good at all :(
still just the first segment though, so hopefully it will pick up.
