The above is only a secondary purpose of this blog. The primary mission of this blog is to infuse some optimism into Redstate worriers by recounting recent and not so recent history of leftist Dem presidential losses and what lead up to them, as well as to promote Gamecock.
Speaking of whom, and picking up where said rosster (Never has been worng on a presidential election since 1980) aka Cockstradamus, left off:
1 - thx to Joli', GC's mission is accomplished! Joli' apes mbecker in describing the idiocy of MMGW claims and in the process answers my questions in one fell swoop.
Now, as to cockstradami: I said weeks ago that McCain would cave on drilling.
Now, I say that within 3 months, blogs on the subject of MMGW will be rare, as the country will have moved on. Majorities of liberals now want to drill.

First lets review past such stress reducing 'cies: In 2006, both before and after the November election and before and after Obama came into my comb's zone, I asserted that the GOP nominee for president in '08 would defeat the Dem nominee.
why?
Because the Dem party has removed all vestiges of Clinton centrism and has talked itself (with msm echo chamber help) into thinking a majority of Americans have moved far to the left with them and so have trashed all pretense to hide their leftist views.
Ironically, the far left Hillary I expected to be the foe, actually moved to the right during the campaign as she discovered the non-soccer mom voting block that always actually decides elections: middle class white people that eschew leftists that abide hate whitey sermons.
The leftists that control the party hate the clintons for Bill's centrist policies in the 90s that shut them out of all but killing babies even at 8 mos, 29 days with legs dangling toward Earth with scissors poised to burst skulls occupying the space above vaginas.
Obama will get no more than 42% of the vote.
Americans are learning quickly that democrats are responsible for 30 years of self suicide re energy and will mete out the punishment.
See the dems recent two pullings of bills that would have raised gas prices and which more than 35% of dems would have voted down.
Why am I so wise? See talent on loan from God and 18 yrs a Dem losing elections in Novembers '80-'00 we had "won" in June polls. Voters get attentive in October and reject libs everytime for President.

In 2006, this was a most reasonable analysis by civil truth
In 2008, with the non-stop barrage of media suppression of Obama's true program coupled with actual lying about McCain's record, I'm not so sure.
The especially pernicious change is the parody on true religion that is being unleashed on the American people: the joint dogmas that 1) opposing Obama = racism + 2) voting for Obama will grant us absolution us for all our racism sins and those of our ancestors since at least the times of the Romans (!). (Of course the absolution will last only until the next Congress convenes.)
This secular Messiah movement, especially among our media and intellectual elites, is unprecedented in our lifetimes and was totally unanticipated in the run up to the primary season.
We'll just have see how this trend develops over the next few month. Two Biblical phrases come to mind: "they have eyes but do not see, ears but do not hear" - "therefore God caused them to believe a delusion so that they will believe a lie, so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness".
Of course, the collateral damage from the latter would sweep us all up.
However, I'm not claiming that I wear prophetic lenses regarding November 4; in the meanwhile what I do know is that we have to work and pray in hope for mercy. Ah yes, the old "deliver us from the evil one" also comes to mind...

Words of encouragement are always well-placed here.
We become nervous when we realize that Americans have freely elected the likes of President Jimmy Carter, Sen. Patrick Leahy, Sen. Chris Dodd, Rep. Maxine Waters, Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Rep. William Jefferson, and Rep. Barney Frank, and they seemingly like them so well they are frequently re-elected, even after proof of malfeasance in office or clear signs of mental incompetence.
IOW, we may be right about everything but the voting public can still make us wrong. We need to do all we can to help MAKE the public recognize the right choice.
But I'll hold any negative vibes that may come along in the future on this side of the keyboard as long as I can.

Joli does the hard work of deconstructing the stupidity of AGW acolytes. He provides the science.
I'm old and lazy. I just point out the obvious, heap scorn on them in the hope that they will be offended (re: hurt feelings) and go post somewhere else.
So far as I've seen on any of these threads, Joli keeps his nose to the grindstone and works for conversions. I typically run out of patience about four posts in.

I'm still reading the whole thing for the first time but "You simply don't understand the scientific method" made me about pee myself. 1546, the whole point of the scientific method is testing not guessing. If you can't test, then your theory might as well be science fiction.

How else do you propose testing climate models other than testing them on past data? Answer - there is no other way. And you know it. It's a false argument.
My friggin graphing calculator from highschool can do regression equations on past data. That's called a good guess of the future, not proof, not anything else. I'm not about to ask the free world to gather berries for the rest of their lives because my TI-82 said so.
Real science predicts the future, and is verified or discredited by the results. Until you do that, you aren't using the scientific method.

According to http://www.geom.uiuc.edu/docs/forum/angtri/ it is impossible to trisect an angle WITHOUT a marked straightedge and compass. I think the goofball on Rush might have been referring to some method like this thinking he was somehow special. He was beaten by a few thousand years.

Interesting stuff. I don't know what I wrote when I brought this subject up, but I do know I meant that it was impossible with just a straight-edge and compass.
Geometry class was so long ago that I don't even remember a convention of using "Pi" to mean "180 degrees," but that's what his explanation and proof seems to use.
I guess there will always be those who don't know a straight-edge from a ruler. (^,^)

I find myself in prayer at many points throughout the day regarding our nation's leadership. (Popcorn prayers)
As time gets closer, I know my prayers will become more desperate.
As Paul says, all of us God-fearing, free market, America loving, rational people should be praying without ceasing that America rejects the fraud that is the Obamessiah and elects the one that can truly unite and move us forward, Johnny Mac, most definitely not a messiah, but a true American willing to roll up his sleeves and get 'er done.
