Objection your honor, asked and answered!

America is finally learning the truly audacious aspects of the unknown hope-monger, i.e. Tony "the fixer" Rezko and the "Chicago Way", his wife, and now, for the coupe de grace, his mentor Wright.

Obama's original dismissal of the Rev, as a crazy uncle, felt flat, given the Right to Choose, not just abortions, but even one's Church (see First Amendment for the latter, 5 lawyers on certain Mondays in 1972 for the former).

There is a concept in the law that prohibits the continual asking of the same question over and over to try and influence the jury as to the weight and/or importance of a particular matter which applies in this case.

It applies not only to the liberals in the media, but even more so to our feckless conservative heroes who repeat the lazy media meme that Obama has to hold an open-ended news conference to "make this go away." In saying this, some even seem to follow the old libs that praised Bill Clinton for being a "great" liar, almost salivating to see a pol lie real good so we can "move on" to "real" issues.

Character is an issue Laura! Rush! Laura suggested Friday that she might give Obama a second look if he shows he can "take the heat."

Rush wants Obama to identify sermons he agrees with and that it would be so easy to answer.

Rush, man. Not your best day on Friday. Looking ahead to Saturday golf?

Hannity got it right. This will bury him.

The whole, "he needs to answer questions" mantra and/or the search for witnesses or documentary evidence placing Barack Obama within earshot of any Rev. Jeremiah Wright hate speech are just straw men opportunities for Obama's mouth to excise the answer we have heard loud and clear for twenty years from another part of his anatomy.

Let's go to Presidential Threshold Qualifications Court:

Judge: Mr. Obama, I know that you are an attorney, but I need to put on the record your desire to represent yourself rather than hiring competent counsel, especially since you have never tried a case of import in your life but rather wasted your legal education ginning up grievances among the less well off in communities, organizing them to blame everyone they don't see in the mirror for their problems.

Obama's mouth: I wish to represent myself.

Judge: Do you denounce and reject the teachings of Pastor Wright that we just heard on the tapes marked exhibits 1, 2 and 3?

Plantiff's Counsel: Objection your honor! Asked and answered. I refer you to the testimony of Obama's butt and the testimony of our round-hole/square-peg expert who found that said butt perfectly fits the indentation of pew "n" of Trinty United Church of Christ as well as said expert's opinion that carbon dating proves that said indentation could not have been formed in less than 19 years, four months.

Judge: Objection sustained. Judgment for the Plaintiff. Obama, butt and mouth, should you wish to run for president in the future, I hereby sentence you to an immediate self-declaration of denunciation of the past twenty years of your life; transfer of your letter of church membership to a church that preaches love; attendance at said church for at least seven years; and proof that you never refer to Louis Farrakhan by the honorific of "minister" for the remainder of your natural life.

Madam Clerk, call the next case:

Clerk: State v Oprah Winfrey...

Next Day in D.C....

There is no way that you can spend 20 years in a church, listen to that nonsense come out of the pastors mouth, and not at least tacitly approve of what he was saying.

Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

I was just making the point that even at a low level there was no way to untangle the two. Throw in the donations to the church and you have quite the home run case there.

In other news, it seems Obama's church is engaged in boycotting Wal-Mart & Sam's Club. That's rich!

for life after the AF, I would love to think you are right.
I'm a bit cynical wrt the IL GOP and their ability to field a decent candidate. Between the latte liberals and the black vote, BHO keeps his seat unless a bright star emerges.
Now, if he had plans for Springfield, I think those just might be gone too. Being one of 100 legislators is far different than the big dog in charge of the state.

Republicans haven't competed for the senate since 1998 when Peter Fitzgerald defeated Mosely-Braun (who was a total joke).

Until the most recent examples of what Wright has been saying from the pulpit, the white libs had assumed that the hate was only directed against white Republicans. They found out the hate was just as vicious if not more so toward the Clintons as toward Republicans. They fooled themselves into thinking they had convinced nearly all of the African-Americans that they were the ones who were taking care of all of these "disabled needy folks" who were helpless without them. The hate by people like this pastor runs deep, and no white gets a free pass, not even a latte sipping liberal white.

was at a McDonald's in Columbus, OH. That would have been 2001, I think. I've gotten some fair coffee at Denny's in the middle of the night when I was in college, but not so much at Starbuck's. It's better than Maxwell House, or Folger's, but if I really wanted good coffee, I'd probably have to buy the beans green and roast 'em myself, IME.

None of 'em quite manage to equal the kwality of the coffee produced by the Aramark cafeteria (the one in college, or the one at the office: crivens, but that stuff's awful).

--
This too shall pass.

There is/was a decent coffee shop in Terre Haute called The Grounds (they're still around, to the best of my knowledge, though I haven't had the coffee since before I graduated from college), FWIW.

The difficulty in finding a decent cup of joe is one reason I switched over tea, though.

Alas, French Roast is a terrible thing to do to a good and innocent bean, and the can of Folgers (or Maxwell House, I don't remember) my parents sent with me as a freshman put me off store-bought stuff. That there are other options really didn't occur at the time (being a college student, in a day and age when Mountain Dew was usually favored over coffee, anyway), and I really hadn't bothered to revisit the idea in the intervening years.

Out of deference to you, actually, I picked up a small can of MH (some 'smooth' roast they're doing now), and an equivalently-sized bag of Eight O' Clock Coffee, since my illustrious forebears seem to buy it. I'll give it a shot tomorrow, and may try replacing my usual quart-a-day tea habit with coffee this coming week.

If so I need to give up on the lattes before any damage occurs -- maybe it takes over 20 years of latte sipping before the liberalism seeps in the same way Obama claims that listening to racist teachings from his spiritual mentor for 20 years has not influenced his perspective.

I can only hope that Obama's black supporters will understand it isn't the race that bothers non-black voters but the hatred. Most non-black voters do not live in the white privileged world Wright spews his hatred on. Most non-blacks do not have trust funds or six figure incomes, did not go to Ivy league schools, and do not live in the land of milk and honey. Most non-black voters work every day, worry about paying their bills, worry about raising their children and protecting their families from the negative and violent influences in the world. Most non-blacks in the US do not live in "black fantasy white world". Most non-blacks in the US do not look to a government safety net and social program to provide cover for bad decisions.

Joliphant needs to get down to Sao Paulo, Brazil if he wants to appreciate what a truly magnificent cup of coffee tastes like. When he orders at a restaurant there I recommend that he order white coffee. That way they bring out a small pitcher of hot black coffee and a small pitcher of scalded milk. The coffee I drank in Sao Paulo tasted better to me that the coffee I tasted in Jamaica, mon, or anywhere else.

Cardosa ruled for 8 years before Lula got in office in '02. Cardosa actually did a lot of good for Brazil. From this article:

An inflation-fighting supporter of free-market reforms, he became economy minister in 1993 and was credited with turning the troubled Brazilian economy around.

Cardoso was elected president in 1994 and soon moved to reduce government involvement in the economy and attract foreign investment to Brazil. He was reelected in 1998, but his second term saw increased popular dissatisfaction with economic austerities and inequities, struggles in his four-party coalition, and legislative intransigence that hindered his effectiveness. Nonetheless his years in office saw the solidification of Brazilian democracy, a reduction of patronage in the government bureaucracy, improvements in education and rural health care, and the resettlement of nearly 600,000 landless peasant families.

If you look only at the person in office and not the country as a whole you could say landing in a US with BHO or HRC as pres. would not be an escape from a commie-ruled nation.

If the rules are transparent and clear, and if the state has no authority to license businesses or restrict exports and imports, there will be no opportunities to pay bribes in those areas. Mart Laar

then let's get back to the task of showing Russia and Brazil the policies that make America the Shining City on a Hill that Brazil's marxist leadership since '02 (the subject of my post, i.e. the Ana girlfriend era!) and Russia's KGB leaders need to see the way.

I hope after 8 years of Lula that Brazil will shift to the right again. Also the US policy with respect to immigration and control of our borders comes into play here. The number of Brazilians trying to sneak into the US has risen considerably since '02. If they realize that it is up to them to fix their own country's government because sneaking into our country is no longer an option, then they are more likely to work harder at getting the corrupt marxist-politicians voted out.

Joliphant agrees to drinking Brazillian coffee is a good idea. This article tells us the following

The stage where Brazilian coffee is at is similar to where the California wine industry was in the 1970's,'' said Michael Nugent, head of Merrill Lynch & Company's coffee desk in Napa, Calif.

The newfound emphasis on quality is a departure from the industry's primary objective, which is supplying large processors like the Procter & Gamble Company, which sells the Folgers brand, or the Philip Morris Companies, which markets Maxwell House.

Arabica and Robusta. Arabica is a very good variety and is more expensive. Robusta is cheaper has a more acid flavor, and is higher in caffeine content and used in most down market coffees.

Now I will give Maxwell house credit. In 2007 they announced they would in the future be removing all Robusta beans from their coffees. I don't know if they have actually done this yet

Irene Dunne plays mama. Great flick. A sign that a child was accepted as an adult was getting to drink coffee with mom and dad. Barbara Bel Geddes played the precocious daughter that got to drink the java.

I had a similar moment when I was 7 years old. My grandmother was a coffee addict. She even lost some of her stomach due to a coffee bean addiction as a child in the mountains of NC.

I'll never forget the glow on her face when I drank my first cup of Maxwell House at her table. She eventually got to where she put half milk in hers before she passed at age 82.

I have gone thru stages of black and milk and sugar and even french vanilla cremora.

Maxwell House, Folgers, Nescafe, Eight O'clock, Choc Full o nuts, JFG, Yuban...

All before I ever heard of any stars, bucks or Dunkin donuts.

Came to hate Waffle House and Hardees coffee, but like McDonald's.

My brother tried to get me into Starbucks after he moved to KC. I tried. I live next to one and my girlfriend got me a gift cert. I love to walk over with a pile of newspapers and the bible and plant myself their as an icon.

But the coffee tastes burnt.

I will confess I love the Dunkin donuts coffee with their heavy sugar and cream formula.

But I always some back to

The coffee that I drank in restaurants in Sao Paulo probably had a 90-10 mix of arabica to robusta. I think it tastes delicious because they serve fresh roasted coffee instead of coffee sitting in storage for months, and they brew it in small quantities so it doesn't sit on a heating element for hours. Also the coffee for domestic consumption from a company like Melitta, for example, tastes better than the coffee Melitta sells in the US.

“.....women and minorities hardest hit”

Was just over on Real Clear Politics looking at the polls and came across this little ditty.

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2007/8/8/194812.shtml?s=lh

The article is actually from Newsmax, but it is linked on RCP after you click on a reader blog.

Note the date and the content of the sermon that day.

A little tidbit-

"Wright's strong sentiments were echoed in the Sunday morning service attended by NewsMax.
Wright laced into America's establishment, blaming the "white arrogance" of America's Caucasian majority for the woes of the world, especially the oppression suffered by blacks. To underscore the point he refers to the country as the "United States of White America." Many in the congregation, including Obama, nodded in apparent agreement as these statements were made."

Never heard hate speak? My a**.

This wasn't hard to find and someone needs to get it out front and center again and call this liar out.

Blogs for John McCain has a story, first reported by Newsmax, up on its website. Newsmax sent a reporter to Trinity United Church in July, 2007. The reporter witnessed the good Senator in attendance and nodding in agreement as the pastor preached on "white arrogance" and "the United States of White America." This story was published in August, 2007 well before the story hit the media this week. Barack "I never heard this before" Obama is in trouble.

A.) Barack Obama has never shrunk from accusing other people of racism on pretty thin gruel. Examples of this are Hillary's stating that LBJ actually passed the civil rights legislation (a true statement unless history books are "racist"), Bill Clinton's "fairytale" remark regarding Obama's Iraq war stance, Ed Rendell's stating that there are some people who won't vote for an African-American and some people who won't vote for a woman (also, probably a true statement), and now the Geraldine Ferraro dust up. On a side note, Obama's campaign in SC even sent out a memo telling campaign members to look for phrases from the Clinton campaign that they can intentionally misconstrue as "racist". (Tim Russert even asked Obama about this memo during a debate.) Both Rich Lowry and Cal Thomas pointed out on Fox News Watch, last night, that Obama seems to be operating under a double standard. In other words, when Hillary, Bill, or their surrogates slip up and say something that might sound a little un-PC, then Obam thinks that it's perfectly OK to publicly slander them, by labeling them as "racists", instead of defending them. However, now that Obama is linked to this truly racist, anti-Semitic, and anti-American pastor, he now wants people to cut him some slack. However, I highly doubt that Hillary's base will have too much sympathy for Obama or be willing to cut him any slack at all since he's been playing the race card against their candidate during the entire election season. In other words, "You reap what you sow".

B.) Obama's campaign is largely based on judgement--the judgment to be against the Iraq war from the very beginning. Well, what the hell kind of judgement does Obama have if he voluntarily attends a church like this and has a buffoon like Jeremiah Wright as his "mentor" for the last 20 years?

C.) What the Obama/Wright connection proves is not so much that Obama is a racist himself--Obama's a bright guy, so I doubt that he really buys into Wright's BS. However, what it does prove is that Obama is a politician, like everybody else--not the fourth member of the Trinity. Obama obviously joined this church because he thought that it would help him make the right connections into Chicago politics. (William Kristol has a good OP-ED about this in The New York Times today.) Anyway, this revelation that Obama is just a politician, like all the rest, undercuts his whole campaign since he is running as "a different kind of politician".

Y'all have a good night.

...what it does prove is that Obama is a politician, like everybody else--not the fourth member of the Trinity.

That is a good one, girl.
It rivals M Penny's for comment of the day.

I can not disagree with one point you write. I will just add this to the judgement question. Tony Rezko is another example of bad judgement and Obama even admits it. Then there is the appearance of conflict of interest wrt his earmark to his wife's employer. Come on people. Obama is nothing more than an opportunist that doesn't know what judgement is.

I'm glad that you like my post. I just want to add that I agree with c17wife that Obama did indeed also display appallingly bad judgement with the Rezko house/land deal and earmarks to his wife's hospital (as well as his friendship with the the Ayers). In fact, I almost wrote about those things too when discussing Obama's "judgement", but I didn't want to make my post too long. :-)
