It Begins To Unravel For Hillary And The Democrats

It has begun to unravel for Hillary Clinton, and she knows it. She knows it, because she has seen it unravel for her before, many years ago when she was only 27 years old and working in Washington.

Last week an interview with Jerry Zeifman went like this...

Jerry Zeifman, a lifelong Democrat, supervised the work of 27-year-old Hillary Rodham on the committee. Hillary got a job working on the investigation at the behest of her former law professor, Burke Marshall, who was also Sen. Ted Kennedy’s chief counsel in the Chappaquiddick affair. When the investigation was over, Zeifman fired Hillary from the committee staff and refused to give her a letter of recommendation – one of only three people who earned that dubious distinction in Zeifman’s 17-year career.

Why?

"Because she was a liar," Zeifman said in an interview last week. "She was an unethical, dishonest lawyer. She conspired to violate the Constitution, the rules of the House, the rules of the committee and the rules of confidentiality."

More below...

She conspired, along with several others including her old college law professor, to violate the Constitution by attempting to deny Richard Nixon the right to counsel during the Watergate investigation. All old news, but given a new light by Zeifman's interview.

It unraveled then, much as it unraveling now.

When this story begins to get more press, you'll see why I am saying that she knows it's unraveling. It seems HER pastor, or as the report puts it, "The closest person you can come too that resembles her pastor", the Reverend Edward Matthews from Arkansas has publicly sympathized with Barack Obamas pastor, Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

Rev. Matthews was the pastor of the First Methodist Church in Little Rock during the last two years of the Clinton Governorship in Arkansas. It remains the only church where Hillary Clinton is a member. Rev. Matthews has stayed friends with Hillary for the past 16 years, officating at her fathers funeral and even attending prayer breakfasts in the Clinton White House.

Bills triade at the delegate meeting at the state convention in California last weekend only shows that he too knows things are beginning to unravel. His unloading on an unsuspecting delegate, one that is actually FOR Hillary, is evidence that all is not well in the Clinton camp.

And now the story reported on early last week begins to take shape. Hillary knows she won't beat Obama so she has begun to cut his legs out from under him by claiming that Obama can't beat McCain in November.

ABC News' George Stephanopoulos Reports: Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., and former President Bill Clinton are making very direct arguments to Democratic superdelegates, starkly insisting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., cannot win a general election against presumptive Republican nominee, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

Sources with direct knowledge of the conversation between Sen. Clinton and Gov. Bill Richardson, D-N.M., prior to the Governor's endorsement of Obama say she told him flatly, "He cannot win, Bill. He cannot win."

She has yet to side with McCain and in all probability will not directly support him. What has begun to become clear to the Clinton campaign is that they have decided that Obama will be the Nominee, but they are launching this passionate bid for superdelegates to make it appear they are asking for their support.

However, this cloak of passion does not hide the true meaning of their plea for support. Their plea is a chirade to discredit Obama and turn her supporters to voters for McCain. If they can't have Hillary this time, they don't want Obama in the way in 2012.

Hillary's unraveling will certainly have those nasty unintended consequenses. It may just unravel the entire Democratic machine for years to come. No one doubts the power the Clintons have, or had, within the Democratic party and as some of it's members begin to turn their back on the Clinton's, such as Bill Richardson, they may just cause the entire party to unravel.

You're spoiling the fun.

I would like the Clintons to twist in the wind, eyes bulging and throats gurgling, legs kicking at the air, for just a little while longer, say until August.

Unraveling is what Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Fred Thompson did.

She's easily been able to prevent Obama from clinching a majority without superdelegates. You don't see that very often. Edwards couldn't do it to Kerry, and Bradley couldn't to Gore. But Clinton is hanging on and keeping it close (make no mistake, while the 'proportional' system makes leads difficult to build and to diminish, the candidates aren't that far apart right now and never have been).

Was Fred Thompson ever raveled so that he could become unraveled?

Don't jump on me Fredheads...I'm one of you. But let's be honest...the guy went nowhere fast.

I don't know if Hillary is unravelling, but the Clinton legacy has been unraveled. If nothing else, this primary accomplished what the media has denied so long. The Clintons are scum and frauds and Bill Clinton's presidency was underwhelming. Thanks, Barry.

The one that it originally responded to has been deleted and it definitely does not fit the post it is now attached to.

8 years of him in the presidency will wipe out all their influence and power within the party. By 2016 Al Gore or Bill Richardson would have a better shot at the nomination than she would.

If Obama wins the nomination, McCain will probably get stealth support from the Clintons to beat Obama to give Hillary another shot in 4 yrs.

she will work behind the scenes to get JohnnyMac elected, so she can run at him in 2012.

According to Rush today, the fix is in, it's going to be Obama. Even Corzine, whom up to now has supported "The Hill" says if Obama wins the popular vote, he is switching to Obama.

Florida and Michigan counted of course.

however, she is 105 behind in the delegate count and with Indiana and Pennsylvania coming up, it think she'll be finished. She won't quit, she'll stay in and play the spoiler until the end.

Rush mentioned today, that there are no more Clinton enforcers (read goon-squads), evidence Bill Richardson is still alive!

His departure seems to have signaled to other supers that it's OK to switch. Dean wants them to commit by 1 July 2008 to avoid a brokered convention. I think he might just pull it off, the Clintons have lost their clout (read fear-off) with the party.

Delegates Obama Barely
Popular Vote Clinton Barely

She will win the remaining primaries pretty handily. The last one Puerto Rico very decisively. This will leave both with compelling arguments why they should be the nominee. More importantly neither will have an actual victory both will be claiming several tactical victories.

Playing the democrat identity politics game, either way there is going to be both elevated turnout and even greater voter suppression. Hillary suppresses the Black vote beyond comprehension. Obama kills the feminist, latino, Jewish and other non black victim groups. Whats more Obama finally kills the last moderate democrats. There will be no pro America, pro Life democrats left after Obama. The Jews may very well flip permanently Republican.(Lets face it, they have been better served by the Republican party without even being part of it)

The supers will have to pick unless someone drops, and she's not dropping. She has the money to stay and play until Denver.

Clinton's will be vainly spewing out many "I told you so's" after Obama gets beat by McCain. However, I could hardly imagine Dems supporting her in 2012 as I think she has burned way too many bridges by being the witch she is.

Ask not what I can do for my country, ask what my country can do for me. Washington Elected Elite

don't tell her that.... Hill, babe, you've got a great shot at the 2012 nomination if you burn Obama this year.

& the democrat leaders are siding with Obama & his constituencies agains Hillary & her constituencies. I guess this is the unintended consequence when your party is made up like the democrats. By choosing Obama, the democrat leadership is conveying the idea that it's preferable to hack off the white women, Jewish vote, blue-collar, and Latino voting blocs.

I still hold out hope for a convention-floor scrum, & if she is able to win most of the upcoming primaries we still may see this. In any case, a whole suite of constituencies will feel betrayed.
