Posted at 11:47pm on Jul. 7, 2008 Why I'm starting to hate the GOP
By Haley37
Today was a red-letter date for me. Everything that had been brewing with uncertainty and frustration crystalized in one, blinding moment of truth upon reading comments by Nevada Senator John Ensign, the person appointed chairman of the NRSC (National Republican Senatorial Committee for those of you in Rio Linda).
And just what were Senator Ensign's remarks to the Los Angeles Times? Take a look.

Posted at 3:13pm on Jun. 4, 2008 Dear John, the Iraq success is not your doing
By Haley37
Everyone here knows I am not a fan of Senator McCain. That granted, I have scaled back my criticisms of him here in the effort to promote unity.
I will not however sit still while he continues to take singular credit for the surge strategy in Iraq. His statements from the last several years amounted to "we need more boots on the ground," which was the only things I ever heard him utter on any news shows or in public. That is not a strategy nor is it what President Bush implemented in early 2007.

Posted at 12:29am on May 12, 2008 A Blueprint for the Republican Party's future
By Haley37
Sometimes I am at odds with posters and moderators on RS, at other times we are in complete agreement. There is hope that this post will reflect the latter instead of the former, but we shall see.
GOP operatives and others in the Conservative movement read these blogs, so maybe they will take note if they happen to see this posting.
The reasons the GOP lost the Congress in 2006 has been the source of much discussion but not much debate. The rank-and-file GOP have carried the media mantra that the difficulties in Iraq and corruption issues were the culprit sources of that defeat.

Posted at 12:32am on Apr. 28, 2008 McCain again validates my reasons for not supporting him
By Haley37
Just how egotistical, arrogant and plain stupid do you have to be to attack your own party over a television advertisement that you HAVEN'T EVEN SEEN?!?
Try and defend you boy on this one, McCainiacs. I know you will and it should be good entertainment to read your remarks.
McCain again reminds me why I won't be casting a vote for him in November of 2008 or ever for that matter.
What an idiot.

Posted at 11:47am on Apr. 11, 2008 Trying to get to a logical (not emotional) understanding of BDS
By Haley37
Yesterday I spent time with a good friend who enjoys motor bikes, sci-fi, good music and many other things that I equally enjoy.
For the most part, Brian seems like any other person I know except for one particular difference; he hates President Bush and is very 'in your face' about it.
His first statement to me when I saw him yesterday was "Man, Bush just got kicked in the balls today. The UN fined the United States fifty million dollars for starting an illegal war." He said this with a big grin on his face like he had just heard that he won the lottery. He also went on to tell me that Canada had also smacked Bush by saying that the 5,900 service men and women who had run to Canada to avoid be resent to Iraq could stay in Canada as asylum seekers.

Posted at 10:54pm on Mar. 20, 2008 Mississippi finally getting serious about illegal immigration
By Haley37
I was happy to see that Governor Haley Barbour signed into law a new bill that requires businesses to use the Federal E-Verify System to confirm the employment status of potential hires.
Things have become really bad in Mississippi. A friend of mine was eating a late meal at an IHOP in Tupelo one night and was taunted and threatened by a Mexican thug who was sitting nearby at another table. Others have complained of lawn services and furniture companies paying just their Mexican workers in cash when everyone else gets a paycheck. I myself can't go to the local Wal-Mart without feeling like I'm in Guatemala City!

Posted at 2:45pm on Mar. 13, 2008 Why aren't Code Pink treated like Domestic Terrorists?
By Haley37
I see pictures of the buildings they and their cohorts mess up with paint and other graffiti, yet nobody prosecutes them for destruction of property.
They also make threats to military recruiters and others who support the efforts of our soldiers, however I never read of charges being brought against them for their threats and violent behavior.
Their leaders go to foreign countries and form alliances with enemies of the United States and still they go unpunished.

Posted at 12:41am on Feb. 19, 2008 Voter responsibility and the McCain candidacy
By Haley37
I find it amusing that many posters on RS have attacked others like me who refuse to support John McCain with our votes in 2008.
They post that if the Democrats win the White House, then it will be on the heads of those who wouldn't line up behind the presumptive nominee and put their pettiness behind them.
The last time I checked, it is the candidate's responsibility to win voters to his cause and not mine or anyone else's to just give our votes by virtue of his status.

Posted at 2:35am on Feb. 16, 2008 Party Loyalty, John?
By Haley37
How ironic to listen to all these McCain lackeys talking about Conservatives showing some 'party loyalty' and getting behind John McCain.
Okay, I'll make a fair proposal to you McCainiacs. When Senator McCain shows some party loyalty then he can get some.
Oh, that's right! McCain has shown ZERO party loyalty over the last 7 years. I must have been thinking of a different McCain there for a moment. Silly me.

Posted at 2:18am on Feb. 16, 2008 RUBBER-STAMP THIS, HOYER!!!
By Haley37
I am so tired of hearing this "we aren't a rubber stamp" garbage for the last 1 1/2 years that I'm about to drive up to Capitol Hill and shove a little piece of paper called the U.S. Constitution in your contemptible face!
You remember that oath you took, Steny? The one to protect and defend this nation? You and your game playing friends in the House are about to let the law expire that helped in preventing another 9-11 attack. So Steny, just how are your actions reflecting your oath?

Posted at 11:11pm on Jan. 29, 2008 It's now official
By Haley37
Yep, it's now official. The GOP really is the Stupid Party.
How or why our voters would reward the candidate who has done more to bring the party to it's present condition that anyone else is beyond the grasp of anything logical or remotely intelligent.
You know the Democrats are in their smoky rooms with their media pals laughing it up and slapping each other on the backs. They are saying "GOOD OLE ROPE-A-DOPE REPUBLICANS. WE KNEW WE COULD COUNT ON THEM!"

Posted at 11:47pm on Jan. 22, 2008 The patent dishonesty and arrogance of John McCain
By Haley37
Tonight I am going to temporarily suspend my acidic remarks about John McCain and encourage those reading to consider what I believe to be a fatal flaw of the Arizona Senator.
The title of this post is calm compared to what I normally state about him on this site.
If you decide to read and reply, I ask that you make a coherent argument outside of the standard Vietnam Vet/American Hero script, because that has little to do with my post.

Posted at 11:29am on Jan. 7, 2008 You can't call yourself a Conservative and vote for McCain
By Haley37
I've been mulling the polls over the last several days and it worries me deeply to see so many of them pointing towards John McCain winning NH. Of course, many of these polls are likely media sponsored and the media has a big investment in McCain winning. Some of those polls could be designed to give the Arizona senator a boost.
That in mind, I've read many posts here on RS that support McCain and wholeheartedly endorse him just because he is right on the war and for no other reason.

Posted at 7:34pm on Nov. 18, 2007 Don't be taken in by John McCain
By Haley37
This man is not to be trusted. Why are people suddenly being suckered by his convenient transformation to arch-conservative?
Are we going to be stupid and give this turncoat the GOP nomination after all he's done to the conservative movement?!?
Everyone seems suddenly ready to just dismiss how Senator McCain stabbed this party's base in the back with the 'Gang of 14' deal that ruined our opportunity to place all our qualified nominees on the courts (which is the RIGHT of the party in the White House, not the prerogative of self-important, windbag Senators) just to earn himself yet more praise from the D.C. media for betraying his party.

Posted at 10:45am on Oct. 31, 2007 Called Senator Trent Lott's office about his YEA vote on the Dream Act Cloture
By Haley37
You wouldn't believe what the girl answering the phone told me when I asked if she could explain Senator Lott voting for cloture to move this monstrosity to a floor vote.
She told me the Senator does not support the Dream Act and that he only voted YEA in order to vote NAY on the actual bill.
When I pointed out that voting for cloture is the same thing as voting for it (since it would be able to pass on a simple majority after cloture is obtained), she got defensive and told me that it was not the same as voting for it because the Senator opposes the act. She was actually a bit rude and cut me off before I could explain to her why she was wrong.
