You! Yeah, you...
Tired of all the infighting? Frustrated with the choices for President? Ready to bag it all and climb under a rock til 2012?
Yeah, me too...but, if you've been engaged in politics...donated to a losing campaign (or a winning one for that matter), read about this mess, written about it, cried over it, or ruined more than one otherwise decent meal with family and friends, I have an offer you can't refuse.
Give all that civic duty, patriotism, and love of Country to our Soldiers. They are fighting two wars and the "Long War" and are going to need our time, love, and attention a whole lot more than our Political heroes...we get the wrong one in office and this will be doubly so.
Help MOM up at Fort Hood where the Soldiers are supported as they deploy, as they await redeployment, and when they're ready to ship home.
Help the Wounded Warriors Project, as they attend to the needs of the brave men and Women that have made such horrific sacrifices in our defense.
Help the Gold Star Moms as they try to help families endure the pain and sorrow and loss of their Sons and Daughters having made the ultimate sacrifice.
Whatever you do, re-direct those campaign donations to where they'll have a better and more meaningful impact...on the lives your time and money will more importantly affect.
Let the fat cats wearing those Armanis up there throwing 'em back in Georgetown on Saturday night fend for themselves...
Give back to those who give us so much. You'll feel better for it, and you'll be doing something far more important and meaningful.
Do it.
Soldiers' Angels was started by a self-described ordinary mother of an ordinary young man turned hero, Sgt. Brandon Varn. Brandon was deployed in Iraq and has since honorably completed his mission and has returned back to his proud and loving family.
In the summer of 2003, he wrote home expressing his concern that some soldiers did not receive any mail or support from home. Being a caring and loving mother, she decided not to allow a situation like that to continue. She contacted a few friends and extended family to ask if they would write to a soldier or two. Within a few short months, Soldiers' Angels went from a mother writing a few extra letters to an Internet Community with thousands of angels worldwide.
You adopt a soldier by agreeing to send a letter once a week and a package once or twice a month. As a former soldier, I can tell you that getting mail and packages from home really means a lot.
very fulfilling and there are so many more....great post!
Freedom of Religion not Freedom from Religion
Looks like that ought to be http://tmff.us/contributions.html.
I have some fondness for Project Bore Snake, FWIW.
I've gotten requests specifically for bore snakes from soldiers in the field. They make gun-cleaning a whole lot easier.
"Do the day's work."
The bore snake's a great product. Not enough to replace a traditional cleaning kit, but very handy all the same.
Helping Military families with our wounded soldiers.
Local conservatives are doing a great job with the ones in Washington DC near Walter Reed Medical Center.
We'd better place our attention elsewhere.
'Cause we're sunk.
(I miss Fred.)
I applaud you for these great ideas and comments.
GOD BLESS AMERICA and those who fight to keep us free!
Just Do It!

Don't let the primary battles distract us from continuing to help those who sacrifice so much for the rest of us.
