By haystack

Apparently Lt. Colonel isn't what it used to be. One would think that someone who attains such a rank in the Army would know a little about that thing called OPSEC (Operations Security). See, Rick Noriega seems to be under the impression that FISA allows the Federal Government to listen in on Soldiers deployed overseas. How can he be so confused?

Posted at 9:28am on Jul. 9, 2008 The "Do Nothing" Congress Gets Its Report Card

By haystack

You know, I've never been much of a believer in polls. You ask 1,000 people a few questions, and the results are supposed to be indicative of how the rest of us 300 million slobs out here feel...I know it works in a statistics class, but it's a stretch for me. That said, I am BESIDE myself over this Rasmussen Report card that tells the tale of Harry and Nance's woes:

Posted at 3:33pm on Jul. 4, 2008 A Day For Traitors and Treasonists

By haystack

Our founding Fathers, 56 of them God rest their souls, were traitors in their time and were considered by their fellow Englishmen back then to be the most evil amongst good men...but what was derived from their high crimes of treason stands before us today as the greatest nation in the history of mankind. This fact deserves nothing less than a hushed silence of reverence and respect; you crush a man under your heels long enough and he will rise up against you. After many years of having to suffer the tyranny of their government, on this day 232 years ago our forefathers flipped off a King, and set about bringing sanity to an insane world.

Consider these words in contrast with the lessons of history our current Congress (and the cavalier nature of their impositions on our lives) either never learned or have clearly forgotten:

[A]ll experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

This Independence day I am especially reminded of these words as I look around at the collective state of our Republic.

Posted at 9:47am on Jul. 1, 2008 If Democrats Weren't So Pathetic, This Would Be Funny

By haystack

Please tell me you haven't forgotten the '04 election when we were told to decide who was better suited for the Presidency; a "rape, torture, and burn" John Kerry or a "missed a few days of service in the Reserves" George Bush. That somehow, with all the horrible things John Kerry says he saw or did himself, ol' Johnny boy should be President because he came home from 'Nam to tell the world we were doing bad things in the war.

Posted at 11:03am on Jun. 29, 2008 Democrats On Cornyn: "Better To Look Crooked Than Look Silly"

By haystack

You can't make stuff like this up people...

The DSCC, among the many other Liberal self-important elitists out there, has their undies all in a bundle because they don't "get" Cowboy humor. Being high and mighty elitists precludes any genuine understanding of the "country" culture, or a decent appreciation for a fine Stetson, or even a shiny pair of bonny-new Tony LLama's for that matter....just ask Obama where that God and Guns remark got him. NOR do they have any ability to comprehend why anyone would poke a little fun at himself; taking one's self too seriously ALL the time is a founding principle for being a Democrat you see...

So, what does the pretty little city boy Democrat Media Consultant named Dean Rindy have to say about the Cornyn "flap" that isn't?

"This is a disaster for John Cornyn, because it just makes him look silly," said Democratic media consultant Dean Rindy. "They don't stop to realize Cornyn's not the Marlboro man. He's a plump, pasty politician in cowboy drag."
[...]
"There's nothing worse than looking foolish. Better to look crooked than to look silly. People want a strong US Senator. Not a fake cowboy," Rindy said.

Rindy wouldn't know a real Cowboy if he took a spit of dip to the forehead from one...and it's no real surprise to hear a Democrat suggest looking crooked is a good thing either...but really now-can the little kiddies on the left lighten up a little?

From the haystack "AYFKM?" files...

Yes, AGW fans (and you evil deniers of the truth) , we have a new pitch of frenzy in the Global warming debate...Fossil Fuels Energy Company CEOs are of the same cloth as Big Tobacco; they TOO spread doubt about the connections between a recently-made-popular "evil" (fossil fuels, in this case) and the effects said "evil" has on something...in THIS case, on our precious little furry Polar and alpine critters who are soon-destined to be:

The US Supreme Court today gave rights to non-citizens..you know, the ones killing and trying to kill Americans? yeah-those non-citizens.

The Supreme Court, for the third time, rejected President Bush's policy for holding and trying foreign prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and ruled today these men have a right to seek their freedom in a hearing before a federal judge.

By haystack

In her concession speech yesterday, Hillary Clinton said something we November 2008 Republican voters better be paying attention to:

I understand that we all know this has been a tough fight, but the Democratic Party is a family. And now it's time to restore the ties that bind us together and to come together around the ideals we share, the values we cherish, and the country we love.

Posted at 2:28pm on Jun. 6, 2008 A Moment For Republican Pete Olson

By haystack

CQ Politics tells us "that Vice President Dick Cheney is scheduled to attend a fundraiser in River Oaks today for Republican Pete Olson of Sugar Land and the Texas Republican Party." Olson's opponent, Nick Lampson, replaced Tom DeLay and now we need to help Pete replace HIM.

GO here now and show Pete your support. According to the CQ piece:

Olson has a big money gap to close. "At the end of March, the last period for which records are available, Olson’s campaign was technically in debt, with almost $128,000 on hand and a debt to the candidate, who provided a personal loan of $175,000. Lampson had $1 million in the bank."

Don't let the wrong guy stay in office because you thought someone ELSE gave Pete the money he needs.

Do it for Pete.

Do it to help clean up the House that Nancy trashed.

Posted at 11:31am on May 26, 2008 Not Everyone Is Welcome To Participate In Memorial Day This Year

By haystack

This Decoration Day I find myself all at once solemn, humble, and furious. During a time we are all supposed to come together to honor American Heroes past and present we find ourselves, instead, having to contend with a part of our population that doesn't even consider itself at war. That goes for Political leaders that recuse themselves from being part of the war effort in the name of political expediency (while lying straight-faced about caring for Soldiers and Veterans) as well as all the other losers out there that further their own self-interests at the expense of our Men and Women in uniform.

The Washington Times has an interesting piece worth a quick look - Democrats will 'turn us into France' :

The Senate's top Republican says Democrats' sights are set on European-style socialism, and derided likely Democratic presidential nominee Sen. Barack Obama's claims of being a unifier — one of the major selling points the Illinois Democrat makes on the campaign trail.

Posted at 2:25pm on May 11, 2008 The Government That Fails Them

By haystack

The problem with our Government is not Democrats or Republicans, per se, but with the collective need to do whatever it takes to get and keep power. This never-ending opportunistic positioning on issues, with little regard for any who might suffer from the effects, fails all of "we the People" and the Government should be ashamed of itself...though we have a better chance of finding a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow than ever seeing sincere humility and embarrassment come from any of our Political Heroes in Washington.

The political football that is Iraq is being as poorly handled as any issue in my memory, and our Warfighters and Veterans (those we should most concern ourselves with) are being failed on almost every level. I blame the President. I blame the Department of Defense. I blame Veterans Affairs. Most of all, I blame Congress. While most of these issues with Soldiers and Veterans lie squarely in the lap of the DoD and the VA, Congress owns the lion's share of blame for not fixing this mess because they hold the checkbook and they aren't doing what needs doing: writing the damn checks.

Let's start with the New York Times piece, The Suffering of Soldiers:

Several years into a pair of wars, the Department of Veterans Affairs is struggling to cope with a task for which it was tragically unready: the care of soldiers who left Afghanistan and Iraq with an extra burden of brain injury and psychic anguish. The last thing they need is the toxic blend of secrecy, arrogance and heedlessness that helped to send many of them into harm’s way.

Quick cheap shot at the President aside, the NYT's Editorial board is on to something. But, before we look at the rest of this "opinion" piece, let's pile on a few more things for emphasis.

Posted at 11:42am on May 7, 2008 Democrats: Pay The Unemployed, Stiff The Warfighters

By haystack

Well, gang...the fix is in...

Obey and his pals have come up with a 3-pronged approach for getting an Iraq supplemental to the floor of "the People's House" and very little of it has anything to do with winning the war, or succeeding in Iraq, or whatever our Political heroes like to call it these days. It has a great deal to do with what we can hand out to our fellow citizens while simultaneously sticking it to the men and women risking their lives for ALL of us (including Democrats)....but given the election cycle these scumbags stand in fear of, there is little surprise in this news:

Only this time, it's between Heartland Americans and those who "think" they're better than us...

Michael Hirsh will pay no attention to this article, or if he does, it will only be long enough for him to gloat over having created his very own Obama moment in hell. All the same, Mr. Hirsh is not going to get a pass for saying this about me...and a lot of people who share my feelings about my Country.

Posted at 1:01am on Apr. 18, 2008 Yer G-D Right I'm Bitter, But Not for The Reasons That Fool Obama Thinks

By haystack

GO HERE first and when you come back, you'll find it a whole lot easier to understand the title and content of this piece.

I am as bitter as bitter gets amongst American citizens...and it's for nearly every reason BUT the ones that fool Obama would have you believe about small town Americans. And, for the record, I am especially angry at the wonder boy with a silver spoon attached to his made-up lips because he couldn't have been raised FARTHER from small town America...yet he presumes to speak FOR those of us who WERE...all the same. That, my friends, derives bitter. But I digress...
