Perjury is a serious charge.  Making false statements is a serious charge.  The last time we had the chance we impeached a sitting president for the same crime.

So my advice: plead guilty.  

If you know you are guilty, don't fight the charges just to make a point that the indictment is flimsy or this is a political witch hunt.  Of course, if you truly believe you are innocent of the charges, then fight them as hard as you can.  But if you know that you are not, plead guilty, get a plea bargain, anything that indicates you are taking responsibilty for your actions.

That the best thing you can do for your former boss and the administration is to make sure that the lead story on the nightly news for the next 6 months doesn't begin with the words "Today in the Libby perjury trial..."

The Chief Justice has succumbed to his thyroid cancer at his home in Virginia.
