What If Obama Does Not Filibuster?

I'm not saying he will, or that he would even consider it, now that he's lied about doing it before and now says he'll support the FISA bill: I'm saying that he can't.
MoveOn.Dummies is out to get him. So are FiredogLake and DailyKos and a plethora of other 'realism is not relevant' blogging sites. They want the man to do what he said he would do. But this is Obama we're talking about. He doesn't understand what character is, let alone show any.
Oh sure, the big coming Wednesday (scheduled, subject to the whim of the fear factor of MoveOn.Dummies) vote on FISA will be led off with a vote to try to strip immunity from the bill. It will fail to reach that point. Then Obama will join the hot seat with, (as The McCain Campaign's 'McCain Report' so aptly named,) Chris "Countrywide' Dodd, in either doing the bidding of their handlers, or looking for an election outcome they want.
Republicans are already attacking Democrats for trying to make America less safe with their FISA posturing. Let Obama stand up and do a 'Mr. Obama Goes To Washington' moment, and watch what happens.

MoveOn: Ah.. no.. their website is all about 'hungry for change'. They attack Obama for his ignoring their threats, but they don't have the guts to put it on their site.
Obama is going to vote 'no', and that should be good enough for the loons. But it won't be. It is really too bad he hasn't got the guts to do what they tell him to do, you know, do what he said he would do before.
In the mean time, progressivites are calling Nancy Pelosi, 'Lipstick Nancy', calling Steny Hoyer, Stenchy Horror (now that's actually funny) and if you ever want to know the phone numbers and fax numbers of the horrible side of the Senate you can just travel on over to the DailyKos link and find them there. They are telling their sheep to 'get crackin'.
Obama won't filibuster. If he does, Republicans will constantly interrupt him demanding a ruling from the President of the Senate whether the word 'uhh' qualifies as speech. The man can't wing it. He can read a good story. He can recite a good speech, but put him in the spotlight, on the Senate floor, with live cameras, where he has to talk until he can't talk anymore, and his rhetoric will be 90% 'uhh' and 10% pablum. He's a stupid man. A good actor, but a stupid man.
So Obama won't filibuster but I really hope the 'reality challenged' get their way and make him do it. I can't wait to see the YouTube videos on that one.

"Leadership should be leading to protect the Constitution, not bowing to pressure from Republicans, the White House, and the telecommunications companies.
"The ACLU is asking Congress, as the final minutes tick by, to stand up and do the right thing."

Bill Clinton triangulated writ large before moveon was formed.
What makes you think they won't moveon from obama's baby triangle in seconds?

Moveon is the most ironically named political organization in history. Everyone else has moved on from the impeachment trial. You would have thought they would have changed their name once Bill left the White House.

Obama's guiding principle: "I reserve the right to revise and extend my remarks."
if his recent extemporaneous remarks are any indication. It may be one more reason he's anxious to become president before he has to do much more in the Senate.

An attempt at a filibuster will immediately trigger a request for cloture, which will simply delay the vote for a day. We have sixty votes for cloture on this one. We might have seventy. And if we have to drag this out, we're going to make the Democrats vote on the whole thing, no games.
So, to avoid this: Harry Reid splits the bill in two, thus allowing progressives to vote against telecom immunity. Obama votes against that. The attempt to remove telecom immunity fails, as we easily have the votes to win that one*. Obama votes "present" on the main bill itself; it's the least risky thing for him to do**. The bill passes.
The Netroots then spend a day or two convincing themselves that no, really, their lives have meaing.

**But watch what Clinton does; if she votes "no"... hmm.
