I think the Senate is finally catching on to the will of the American people.
The vote was 52-44 which fell 8 votes short of the 60 needed to invoke cloture.
Yahoo!
Up next is the AgJobs amnesty which is a pet project of Senator Wide Stance who just voted for cloture on the DREAM Act. I can't wait until he is gone!
The leader of the GOP is pulling all the stops to get Amnesty passed. that's GW if you didn't know.
The GOP senators have to be called a million times to vote against it. And you think it's settled???
Explain yourself.
And none of the "leading" candidates can express their plan except tancredo.

There is something very important in the roll call. Clinton and Obama both voted for this bill. Last week they didn't show up to vote for the Vitter Amendment that would have outlawed sanctuary cities.
They are playing to their puppetmaster George Soros with these moves and come general election time, this alliance needs to be exposed. These two have made a clear statement that they believe that our borders need to be wide open and that if you come here, legally or illegally, you can stay. They have no qualms about having criminal illegal aliens stay in the country. These are positions that will not play with most Americans.
Always tell the truth, George; it's the easiest thing to remember.
Would be here.
Summary:
Off the reservation: Brownback, Coleman, Collins, Craig, Hatch, Hagel, Hutchison, Lott, Lugar, Martinez, Snowe
Caught a bout of sanity: Baucus, Byrd, Conrad, Dorgan, Landrieu, McCaskill, Pryor, Tester.
Still a lot of work to do on our own caucus. Brownback would probably justify his vote as being the "Christian thing to do." All the more reason not to trust Huckabee on this issue.
Note: Johnson and Lautenberg both voted for cloture. GEt those ads ready.
.....and apparently my html sucks. Forget to close my code. Can someone please fix it so that it doesn't ruin the rest of the thread.

Heard that, I called Cornyn, but forgot to call Hutchison. I will be campaigning against her if she runs for Gov. Well as long as Perry still quits.

I'm glad Hutchison is retiring, but I'm more horrified than ever to think Hutchison wants to run for Texas governor. I've already said I'd vote against her in a general election; this only strengthens that commitment. I would urge any Texan who calls him or herself a conservative to do likewise. She MUST NEVER be Texas governor!
...so he doesn't have to pretend as if he's seen the light anymore. He can go back to being a liberal on immigration.
...a long habit of not thinking a thing wrong, gives it a superficial appearance of being right...

It sure was convenient that he wasn't around for this vote.

Judge Southwick and left right after that. He actually did change his schedule to be there for the confirmation vote and since a "no show" is the same as a "NO" as far as cloture is concerned, it was no big deal.

But it is a very big deal as far as having to go on record one way or the other is concerned. It was lose-lose for him, no matter which way he voted. Either he reminded people where he stands on immigration or he come off as a flip-flopper who changed his position to minimize the damage it would do to his candidacy. It's all a lot easier if you don't bother to vote.

there's anything he can do to redeem himself on the issue of immigration do you?
I wouldn't let him off the hook if he hired a contractor and built the wall with his wife's money.

Man you're like #3 in the Defend McCain line behind me and some other unidentified poster. That's twice today.

As long as Webb is an elected Democratic official, you can expect him to drop formerly held populist conservative views.

This issue is settled for Republicans and about to blow sky high for the Dems. Thank God we had our little internal dust-up early and before next year.
