Good Morning Redstaters!

First, the last couple weeks have been pretty crazy for me.
However, the fog has cleared and things are returning to normal.
Having said that, I still need a break from the ongoing chaos that is our political environment.

Nothing, except the love of a good woman, has made my daily routine more pleasurable than one thing, the IPOD. Everyday, when 99% of my body says no!, that instrument allows my mind to say YES! Mine has everything from the Outlaws to Cash, Townsend to Chesney.

Posted at 9:09pm on Jan. 8, 2007 What I want the President to say

By jdub19

Time tables, surges, re-deployments, draw downs…..all a bunch of bunk.

We need this President and his administration to give the country what we need…a doctrine.

Everything being talked about today suggests there is an end in sight. The politicians are fooling the public, and the public is fooling themselves. The person/group that tells the truth, and explains reality the best, will win.

To our most dedicated Americans-

Your service, commitment, and beliefs provide us tonight not only with an opportunity to welcome a new year, but also the prospects that all new years ahead will be free and joyous.

At this time, know only the best is wished for you and your comrades, good speed in the mission ahead, and all the joy in the new year that we at home hope to find.

To those that made the ultimate sacrifice, eternally, thank you;

By jdub19

This is not political, and is not controversial. It is something I wanted to share with all of you, because it is a success. It has worked with little effort, and continues to grow every year. Something to think about for the future.

I wish everyone a great Thanksgiving, and a safe and joyous holiday to come.

Turn the Lights on to Domestic Abuse

Twelve years ago, I decided to have a party with a bunch of friends invited over. Never did I expect the party to continue twelve years, growing in size and importance each year.

The story breaking out of Chicago yesterday is stirring up the immigration debate, and has brought it really home to Chicago.

Here are the main points;

1) She was arrested already in 2002 in a immigration sweep
2) She was arrested for using a fake ss#
3) She has already been deported, and re-entered the country illegally

Posted at 3:54pm on Jul. 21, 2006 Terror is Terror.....No Matter How You Cut It

By jdub19

I have had the privilege to post here at Redstate  for close to a couple years now.  I normally, read, evaluate, and then chime in if I feel I have something to offer. This is one of those chime times.

I have watched the RS community get divided on issues such as judicial nominations, border control and abortion.  Countless times I have seen fellow RS's, pledge, `Never again', `Not one dime', or something like that if they were not heard.  To me, this is where the rubber meets the road.

Hezbollah and Hamas a couple of weeks ago committed acts of terror against a peaceful nation.  Not only did they kidnap soldiers/citizens of that nation, but have refused to return them, and have created an international crisis. The state of Israel, as any other state in the world, has a right to respond to those acts of aggression.  Imagine if it was the United States.

The world outcry about what is happening is expected.  We have no support worldwide, other than those that have constantly stood by the values of Democracy and peace.  We should not be looking beyond our friends, for guidance or support.  Our loyalty is with the State of Israel.  Period.

There is no settling on terror.  Any cease fire, or even attempt at negotiation is out of bounds.  The State of Israel has the right to execute their decisions, and fight the GWOT the way we did, the way any other nation would.  We should understand that.

Anything less than full support for whatever our ally decides is pure hypocrisy.

Posted at 1:20pm on Feb. 23, 2006 Public, Priests, and the Law

By jdub19

I think this might just get some people mad.  Not that I am trying to anger, but this subject has come up more and more around my home town.  My guess, the same things with many towns/cities are occurring in this country.  I pose this to the Redstate community because many have shown strong intellect, insight, and willingness to ponder without taking offence.

Nine years ago, a very close friend of mine, and co-worker, was accused by his estranged wife of molesting their step daughter.  Long story short, we all believe it was mean spirited, vindictiveness.   Nevertheless,  my friend was convicted, and has since served his time.  As many of you know, the minute you are accused of a crime as awful as this, your life is pretty much over.  Even if you are exonerated, presumption of guilt is more prevalent than presumption of innocence.  In the end, this mans life is ruined, period.

Enough background.

We all have been witness to the recent plight of the Catholic Church in regards to sexual exploitation by priest and clergy.  It has become so main stream, jokes about priests have become as popular as ethnic jokes.  Simply, this problem will not go away, and seems to be growing, maybe as a result of the behavior of the Church itself.  Whatever the case, it has hit my hometown area because of the handling of the crisis.

        http://ncrnews.org/abuse2005b-archives/016587.html

This has created a major issue for many people.  This to me , presents a much larger question/problem.  Why are Catholic priests accused of these crimes, any different than my friend, accused and convicted of similar crimes?  From start to finish, the moment an ordinary person is accused, they stand eye to eye with the law.  No one whisks them away to a quiet, secluded place to get away from everyday folk.  They have to answer to authorities, and more importantly, the public.  To me, treating clergy and non clergy different in the realm of law, weakens not only the idea of Church, but also the idea of Law.

I was raised not only Catholic, but also Presbyterian.  It was always left up to the kids in our family to choose which faith they would pursue as adults, if any at all.  At that crossroad now, it's an interesting dilemma.  Witnessing a religion floundering in its own mess, unable to correct itself and set itself on the right course, is shocking and sad.  It brings into question all other tenants, beliefs, and views it holds.

It is truly my hope that the church corrects its course.  In absence of that, it's time for the public to demand something be done.

Posted at 2:37pm on Jan. 17, 2006 One for the C.I.A.

By jdub19

Don't get me wrong.  Deaths of innocents are tragic.

But this morning, Pakistan is now acknowledging that the C.I.A. drone, while it did kill innocents, did kill four or more known terrorists.

Hmmm?

In our allies country, four terrorists were killed, and now that "friendly country" is condemning us.

I beleive GWB, and the US warned the world community that terrorists are not safe, anywhere.

This should be a lesson to anyone who harbors terrorists, ...We are serious.

Sorry, we should not feel pained over this.

Posted at 2:20pm on Dec. 12, 2005 Not in America

By jdub19

Years ago, I was shocked and disgusted by the violent incidents that occurred over seas at Protestant and Catholic funerals.

While those political/religious issues at hand were somewhat unaffecting to me, the violence that occurred was something I could understand, as most in the civilized world could as well.

Now, on our own shores, we are witness to pathetic, self serving displays at our own services and worships.

Some have taken on the attributes of partisan anti war rhetoric, while others have been staged by hate groups.

Lt. Governor Pat Quinn of Illinois has introduced legislation aimed at combating this disgraceful trend

http://www.southernillinoisan.com/articles/2005/12/07/top/10002227.txt

While those doing these despicable protests will claim various constitutional rights, this is something none of our forefathers could have imagined.

It is my hope that legislation like this gains traction, inspires debate, and ultimately proves that actions like these have no place anywhere, anytime in American life.

Posted at 12:05pm on Oct. 27, 2005 Diary Day, 10/27/05

By jdub19

It is my guess that today there will be a flurry of Diaries in the wake of the morning news.

One thought has been in my head for a while now, at least the last couple months.  Imagine if Redstate.org had a convention?  My thoughts go to after said gathering, many are in a saloon, enjoying an evening social.  I usually shy away from organized political discussion, as it often is missing one thing...pure passion. This though, is an opportunity.

So, in this bar, I have the chance to tlak to Mr.X, and say Miss Y.  I get now the chance to ask X, why are you so passionate about abortion?  Can you tell me?  I ask Miss Y, "Are tax cuts the most important thing to you?  Why?

My point..This medium is a great learning tool for us all.  We can learn alot from each other.  Cyber debate can never acurately convey the reasons for our beliefs, actions , views.  Reading into the unknown can be very dangerous, and damaging to the whole.

Time to rally the troops, and keep the front united.

Posted at 12:48am on Sep. 3, 2005 The Race Card

By jdub19

I want to start by saying how much I truly respect the service of Redstate.  As a loyal Repub, I look at this sight as an educational and enlightening opportunity to get better as a person.  I only regret sitting quiet for months, reading , not posting for fear Streif would B- slap me.

i live in an affluent area in around Chicago, still striving get my share of the pie.  My sister has been lucky enough to marry an African American gentleman, and we love him dearly.

after just watching the 10:00 news, the City i love so much just played the card.  Not only did they show the most popular rapper/singer today, but also gave time to CSPAN's broadcast today by the Press Club.

Mr.West......Mr. bush hates black people.  Press Club..equated the Superdome to slavey.

I'm sickened to see that this is what has happened to this nation.  For a first entry, I am sorry for actually typing this.  My reason is that hopefully, among the many that use this forum, tell me this will not be the what this horrible event signifies...does everything really have to come down to hatred of a race?

I appreciate all who use this site, and do type this NOT to anger.  Surely there are others out there with things to add to keep this disaster from being worse than it already is.
