Early presidential musings...

It's probably too soon to be weeding out viable presidential candidates for 08. We should really spend some time in careful analysis of the voting trends by precinct and really try to understand the outcome of the election we just had...

However...

it occured to me today that there is a solid conservative that no one has mentioned here recently. This is a man that can clearly frame conservative principals and convey them with authority. A man with proven leadership credentials and a certain charm reminiscent of a past leader of our party. There is no indication that this man is remotely interested in persuing the position, but I would argue that he should give it more than passing consideration.

I'm speaking of the former senator from Tennessee, Fred Thompson.

Let's get Pence and Shaddegg elected as principled Minority Leader and Minority Whip first.

Unfortunately, he is the conversative of Law and dis-order. :)

Completely agree that Mr. Thompson would be an incredible nominee. He is completely unsullied by the mistakes of the past six years. Unfortunately, to my knowledge he has shown no interest in running for office anymore.

He also would make an excellent VP choice for Mitt or Rudy, either one of whom would be strong at the top of the ticket.

Of course, Mitt as President and Rudy as Vice President also would be formidable.
