By Jim Tomasik

She might, just maybe, need that job.

Tennessee’s own Republican sweetheart, 7th district’s Congressional Representative Marsha Blackburn has a primary challenger named Tom Leatherwood. He is the Shelby County Register or Deeds. Leatherwood is beating Blackburn over the head in a nasty little regional fight. He looks like he could take the district's strongest county and maybe a few others nearby.

Posted at 11:04am on May 29, 2008 Rep. Marsha Blackburn, About your Farm Bill Veto over Ride Vote.

By Jim Tomasik

(Pardon me RedState bloggers, I need to ‘rap’ with my Congressional rep for just a minute. As you know, she’s a RedState lurker and there’s no getting past her gate keepers any other way.)

Rep. Blackburn,

There’s a little dust up between some folks here in the east Shelby County area. It’s over your vote to help over ride the farm bill that was vetoed by President Bush. You know ole Mickey thinks you were just showing your true colors. Your defenders say “She had to do something.” And “Get your facts straight, Mickey”. Oh, yeah, the best line was this one; “It’s OK, she’s so pretty!”

Posted at 3:33pm on Mar. 11, 2008 FairTaxers Please Help Take Tom Cole Out!

By Jim Tomasik

Republican Tom Cole (OK) is alleged to be trying to help unseat a new Fairtax cosponsoring Republican Paul Braun (GA) this fall. Paul Broun is one of ours. He is the new guy in Congress and he is a cosponsor of the only truly conservative tax reform, the FairTax Act.

OK FairTaxers need to help vote Mr. Cole out of office. If he is not in your district you should help FairTaxers who are by campaigning against him. It does not matter to me if you elect a mangy dog in his place.

Posted at 9:15am on Feb. 20, 2008 McCainiacs keep disrespecting the Huck supports?

By Jim Tomasik

Go ahead and keep it up folks. The constant whining that Huckabee is cramping McCain's style is just stupid. These two candidates are treating each other respectfully. If Huckabee were to go away right now, exactly what would be keeping McCain in the news right now while the Dems fight amungst themselves? Nothing.

You think you're so smart to keep bashing Huckabee and inferring that his supporters are stupid because they do not see things your way. You want Huckabee to just go away and you don't mind pissing off folks who have been working diligently to get him where he is. It's clear you think that you can win a damn near impossible fight in November without them so go right ahead and show us how it's done.

Posted at 2:25pm on Feb. 6, 2008 Will The Real Spoiler Please Stand Up? (And Then Leave)

By Jim Tomasik

I'm sure some of you will totally disagree with me but there is only one small chance to keep McCain from being the GOP nominee.

A truth is finally creeping into some of the RS commenter minds that most of Huckabee's supporters would rather support McCain than Romney as their second vote. This should be very telling after the votes were counted yesterday.

If Huckabee gets out, McCain will surely run away with the nomination. He will leave Romney looking like a fool.

Posted at 10:33am on Feb. 2, 2008 Hannity is a Shill in the truest form.

By Jim Tomasik

I see a lot of people calling others and even sometime themselves a "shill". I think the definition may be not matching the intended implication.

Websters online defines a shill as follows;

http://www.websters-online-dictionary.com/definition/shill

...A shill is a confidence trickster's accomplice who pretends to be an enthusiastic customer in order to encourage the victim, or mark. ("I can walk!", or "I can see!", or "I'll buy ten!"), and in the case of a form of betting that requires skill, the trickster and shill play out one or more times that the shill wins and create the impression that it is easy to win. The technique employs group dynamics as an element of crowd psychology: the victim comes to feel that s/he stands in good company, does not lag in social sharpness, and should not delay in latching onto a good thing. One could regard groupies as a sub-class of the class of shills.

Posted at 6:26pm on Feb. 1, 2008 Huckabee: "I'm In It To Win It."

By Jim Tomasik

Huckabee will only leave if one of the others gets all the Delegates he has to seal a nomination. Until then, he's in it to win it. The man has already outlasted the most favored candidates Fred Thompson and Rudy Giuliani.

Lets take a trip down memory lane for a minute.

Someone on RedState said FairTax and Huckabee support was a mile wide and a half inch deep. If that’s true, then what of the FredHead and Giuliani support? Was it merely dew on the grass?

Posted at 5:44pm on Jan. 31, 2008 An open letter to Romney and his supporters.

By Jim Tomasik

I have had a few idiots joining my meet up group of Huckabee supporters in the past few days telling us that we need to encourage Huckabee to drop out of the race to let Romney have our votes. There is now also a bunch of these losers going to the Huckabee website doing the same thing.

They act like huckabee supporters but we know better. This is the same crap the Ron paul people did about a month ago.

Posted at 2:57pm on Jan. 18, 2008 The New Ron Paul.

By Jim Tomasik

Fist lets play it this way;

The Ron Paul fanatics act as if their man is the last chance America has and that every other candidate is merely a democrat in republican clothing. He is supposedly the only hope. All "true conservatives" must think like they do or they are not really true conservatives. It is a testament to how bad the country is that this god send of a candidate has not been elected king merely by his offering himself up in a reserved "who me?" attitude. He claims to not even have wanted the job but the nation needed him and the nation begged him to jump into the race. The fact that he has failed to make any great showing anywhere is of no concern. That has been his game plan all along and his loyal followers all know that. In fact, the ones who do not follow him are pretty stupid for not seeing how smart he is for doing it that way.

By Jim Tomasik

What's up with all the "giving up"? Did you think the world was going to all of a sudden see things your way because you wrote a few blogs? Six or seven month's ago, I asked my son, "What the heck is a blog?" Now, I actually participate.

There sure seems to be a lot of dis pare on RS lately. Get over yourself already. We live in the greatest country ever on earth. Our way of life is the most coveted. Where we find ourselves currently may not be where we wish to be within the political climate, that's OK. The mere fact that we have a position that we can freely lobby without oppression is in itself a reflection of what we have been fighting for and defending for the last 200 plus years; Freedom to set our own course in history.

Posted at 11:05am on Dec. 31, 2007 The Political Surge Rarely Mentioned

By Jim Tomasik

A year ago, the Iraq war was going to be the "big issue" of the upcoming election and it was going to be the death blow to the Conservative mindset in American politics.

Back about May and June of this year Republicans leaders were beginning to show signs of weak knees. The surge was hardly beginning in Iraq and our Congress was beginning to whole sale our troops before giving it a chance.

Anbar Provence had been written off as the "Triangle-Of-Death". Harry Reid declared the war lost on more than one occasion. Republican Congressional members were beginning to concede and turn against the war even before this effort was given a chance. This gave the MSM all the ammunition they needed to put Reid on a pedestal and give him an even louder voice. Iraq was becoming another Vietnam according to many. The time this war has taken was linked to the length of time it took to fight WWII. These were misleading statements if not out right lies put out for public debate in order to propel political futures at the expense of our troops.

THE SANDS OF CHRISTMAS
by Michael Marks

I had no Christmas spirit when I breathed a weary sigh,
And looked across the table where the bills were piled too high.

The laundry wasn't finished and the car I had to fix,
My stocks were down another point, the Chargers lost by six.

And so with only minutes till my son got home from school

By Jim Tomasik

(Sorry Huck, I stole the line first.)

I asked a question a while back here on RS. I received no answer. I think it was my fault. I asked it within a blog that had other topics in it as well. It probably got lost in the shuffle.

I'll try again. Several people were saying Huckabee could not win even if he won in Iowa. He does not have the money to keep it together past NH.

After the straw poll, I noted in a commnet how Huckabee spent one twentieth what Romney spent per straw poll vote. Some of you replied that all that mattered was that Romney DID win. I could not really argue with that. No matter what a man did to come in second, he still did not win.

Posted at 2:08pm on Dec. 8, 2007 Why do Liberals Love the Tax Code and the IRS?

By Jim Tomasik

A comment by our liberal friend FlyerHawk touched on something I just can't understand. Thanks for pointing out that one of the GOP candidates wants to shut down the IRS and replace the tax code with a consumption tax. Never mind the candidates name because this article is about the point not the candidate.

Liberals are supposed to be all out to protect poor people, right?

So WHY? Why do Liberals love the tax code and the IRS? It makes me want to pull my hair out sometimes. The tax code undermines poor people horribly. Furthermore, it makes the lazy poor want to stay poor so they will not get cut out of "free" money from the government. It hurts small businesses by making a tradesman have to worry about the IRS instead of preforming a better service to customers. It scares some highly skilled yet lower income individuals from starting up their own companies because they don't think they can handle looming IRS eyes. The concern to make the government happy overshadows the concern to make their customer happy. Keeping up with a sales tax is a zillion times easier than figuring out employee deductions and corporate taxes. Buying a cheap calculator effectively replaces the small businessman's need to hire an accountant to fend off IRS problems.

Posted at 2:36pm on Dec. 6, 2007 HWSNBN and Iowa

By Jim Tomasik

I am presently scratching my head.

Some points that vex me;

1.) This Anti-war candidate has a very determined following.
2.) Iowa is very cold in January.
3.) There is a big ball game that day.

Conventional wisdom is being trampled on lately. Look at what everyone said should not be happening at all with Huckabee. The first of last week someone on here said they thought Huckabee had peaked. So much for that, huh? I'm thrilled to see this occuring but I am also wondering what is going to happen if all the fanatics for these two candidates show up and all the less enthusiastic supporters of other candidates don't show up. The worse the weather, the better for RP and the worse for all the other guys includding Huckabee. I think these RP fans will tread broken glass for him.
