Just what is George Soros buying with Moveon and OSI money ?

Just why would, a self made billionaire who made his fortune ruthlessly manipulating currencies, financial instruments and occasionally countries engage in the promotion of socialist and near communist organizations ?
Well seeing as his life has revolved around money, “Follow the money” might be the way to go. What Soros gains from the money he donates is political power. Political power he can use to gain more money.
This story from fox illustrates the cycle.

The ostensible reason for the suspension was a court challenge filed by the local anti-development activist group and the U.S.-based Open Society Institute about some paperwork unrelated to the environmental review.
But the curtain is rising on the NGOs’ efforts to stop the mine and it seems that Soros, through the Open Society Institute he chairs, may be at the controls for reasons that have little to do with protecting the environment.
By using the political power his donations have purchased, he is able to manipulate the world supply of gold and protect his interests in other gold mining companies.
According to a review by MineWeb.com, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filings indicate that the Soros Fund owns $25 million worth of stock in the Aluminum Corporation of China and more than $40 million of stock in several gold-mining companies.
It’s quite possible that Soros' mining interests are even more extensive since the filings do not cover his personal investments and other investments that don’t require reporting to the SEC.
The Soros groups in Romania oppose the relocation of part of the village of Rosia Montana, yet no similar opposition appeared when a village was moved so that the Soros-owned mining company Apex Silver could develop the San Cristobal mine in Bolivia in the 1990s.
Ok No big deal a billionaire is playing games with a tiny corrupt government. It happens all the time. The same goes for a wealthy manipulator using philanthropy to mask less savory activities. Soros though does not limit himself to tiny or corrupt governments. With MoveOn and the Open Society Institute he has engaged in corrupting our government, and making direct purchases of elected officials. What they say they will bring is a more open and fair society. Does anyone want to take that bet ?

but not as a manipulator of the Democratic party and their presidential candidates.
Soros bet that broke the back of England was based on the need for British independence from the European bond rates which at the time were financing formerly E. German reconstruction. At the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union British unemployment levels needed much lower rates to spur the economy. Soros bet everything he had on the situation so that when the British broke from the Eurozone, the pound collapsed and Soros made a cool 2 Billion USDs at least. Making a couple of Billion in any currency is pocket change when over a trillion worth of currency trade every day.
