Now just how did it get there ?
The oceans may be warming and air temperatures rising, but in recent days Iceland has bucked the global climate trend.
Thick pack ice, the like of which has not been seen for decades, stretched into the western fjords as temperatures plummeted and a bitter wind blew in from Greenland.
The ice has proved a headache for fishermen, who have been unable to put to sea, but it is what comes with pack ice that has caused most concern: polar bears.
People living around the fjord of Dyrafjordur, which last week was almost filled with the ice, were keeping an eye on the sea, conscious that the bears live on the pack ice that covers much of the Arctic ocean.
When chunks break off, as appears to have happened last week, the bears become stranded, drifting wherever the ice takes them.
So it is the growth of Ice that is stranding bears as they float helplessly along the Icepacks. Yes indeed. Polar Bears are being killed because the Ice is growing. Their effective range is actually expanding. This must be wrong if it were correct you would expect that their numbers would be expanding. Oh they are, hmmm.

I'm surprised the shooter didn't get arrested. If Iceland were like the majority of European nations, or even like our own Democratic Party, they would be going all out to prosecute this animal rights violation.
On the other hand, they kill those cute little puffins that live in Iceland. So maybe they aren't as bad as some of the other countries.

The icepack is larger and more extensive than it has been in years.
Instead of reporting that, the intellectual twits just clam up.
Just as the best studies in weather and climate would be to explain why 2004 & 2005 were so extreme for storms, so the brightest are also working to explain why the ice would have melted so much.
But note the condescending, sheep fodder tone: ..."the oceans warming and air temps rising"....
Where? Not in the North Atlantic, where studies show it is not warming.
Not in the Antarctic region, where it is cooling.
Not in the last ten years on earth, where it is cooling.
So they make the important story- the ice is not melting as predicted- disappear, and demonstrate no interest in exploring why polar bears are so abundant as to sail the arctic sea in search of a snack, yet are going to be the excuse for killing the American economy.
How friggin' useless.
I am sure we will get another moby to tell me and other skeptics how are minds are simply not up to the task of handling the great truth that is AGW.
