Michelle Obama - not really a big fan of the United States

"For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is making a comeback."
Ben Smith quotes her here:

As some have pointed out, Obama's message of hope is based primarily on the assumption that the United States is a miserable country where no one can prosper, succeed, and be happy. His wife apparently feels the same way.
You know, I feel the same way about this ('attacking family') as I did about the questions that came up about Huckabee's use of religion in his campaign. Normally the subject matter might be off limits, but when the campaign uses that subject matter over and over again for their own gain (Michelle Obama has been treated unbelievably positively by the media for all her statements, and Huckabee based his entire campaign appeal on his religion), it has to open the door for attacks. Even if something is generally off limits, it isn't once the other side uses it as a political football. Therefore, in this case, Obama has been using his wife as a campaign tool, so when she says something as unbelievably stupid as this, she ought to be held to account.
from a Presidential candidate's spouse's campaign appearance is attacking family?!?!? It's "attacking" to highlight a quote made while campaigning?!? I'd answer no to both question.
Ms. Obama is actively campaigning for her husband. While campaigning, this is what she said. Highlighting such a comment by anyone campaigning for a presidential candidate is perfectly fair.
She had better backtrack on this one ASAP. I have NEVER been embarrassed, or ashamed of my country. That doesn't mean I don't like what some of our citizens have done, or some of our policies but this is without a doubt the best country in the world and all of us, despite our party should be proud that we can truly become whatever we want to be. We can worship how we want. We can write and say what we want. We are free.
I'm embarrassed for Michelle Obama. Despite the fact that I disagree with her political views, I really hope this is somehow out of context, or she doesn't really mean it as it came across. If she did mean this, then I feel sorry for her and I have completely lost respect for her.

And rest assured that McCain's campaign will use this against the Obama's, who will be up against a Vietnam veteran who has ALWAYS been proud of his country.
Don't expect Michelle's words to catch much media anytime soon. She is treated as some kind of Goddess.
Keep it up baby, Your making it easier to defeat your liberal husband in November.
the strong tag never got closed
Fighting for conservatism one day at a time.

This does seem to be part of a trend with Obamaites though.
