In her latest column, Eleanor Clift, the queen of the MSM kingdom, praises the motives behind Senator John McCain’s stances on social issues:
“McCain gets more latitude on this subject because we sense that in his heart, he’s a Goldwater libertarian. Social issues are not what drive him in public life. He’s playing to his party’s conservative base as newly defined by the religious right, but if elected president, he’s not going to be beholden to them the way Bush has been.”

The Reverend Jerry Falwell today said that Christian conservatives would judge Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney on his personal morality rather than his brand of religion. Much has been made about speculation that evangelicals will have trouble supporting Romney if he seeks the presidency because of his Mormon faith. Newt Gingrich had a surprising ammount of praise for MA Governor Mitt Romney today on Fox News Sunday:
"WALLACE: With George Allen and Rick Santorum now apparently out, is there a vacuum on the right for a candidate appealing to true conservatives?
GINGRICH: Well, there's probably a vacuum, but you have to be fair. Governor Mitt Romney is working very hard to fill that vacuum, and may well succeed.....

Lost in last week's GOP "thumping" was the disgraceful disregard of democracy that took place in the Massachusetts. The ultra-liberal state legislature has quietly denied its citizens the right to vote on the definition of marriage. Republican Governor Mitt Romney has assailed state legislators calling them “arrogant” and accusing them of neglecting their constitutional oaths:

Governor Mitt Romney is denouncing Senator John Kerry's "botched" comedy and blasting his "intended" criticism of President Bush. The Massachusetts Governor stated that the Senator’s remarks have offend US troops and his explanation of the joke “puts him in a category” with Venezuelan dictator Hugo Chavez. Chavez recently bashed President Bush while addressing the United Nations General Assembly.
